"Alright, our chief has decided it would be okay to let you both out." Eris stood at the bars and smiled at me, "As long as you don't attack anyone or cause trouble, that is. You're not going to attack me are you?"
"Only if you give me reason to." I pushed myself off the ground and stood by the bars, waiting for her to open the cage.
"Alrighty then." She pulled out a key from her satchel and unlocked the door, "I'm going to take you to uhh Viggo was it? I haven't got to meet him yet."
"So are you some kind of guard here then?" I pushed the door open and followed after Eris as she started walking.
"Nope. My step-mom Cira is though. I just help her. Could you tell how excited she was that we actually had prisoners? We never have strangers come to our islands." She looked up at me with a smile.
"She didn't look too excited." I said, trying to keep a conversation going to get info out of her. It didn't seem to hard, she liked to talk a lot.
"She was! She was really using her 'guard tone' and everything. She's usually really nice and she even told me after our talk with you guys that she was happy to actually be doing her job." Eris resounded with her usually cheery tone.
I'm going to guess that I was in that cell for the whole night before they decided to let us out. We came to a large hole in the cave walls, the exit, and walked out of the mountain. The bright morning sun warmed my skin and a smile grew on my face as I saw Viggo talking to another guard. He noticed me and started walking over while I ran up and engulfed him in a hug. He pulled back and gave me a kiss but it was cut short.
"Ew."
We both turned back to see Eris looking at us with a disgusted look on her face. Viggo cleared his throat and walked over to Eris then extended his hand for her to shake.
"My name is Viggo, I don't think we've formally met." He introduced himself with a slight smile while Eris shook his hand firmly.
"Eris, it's nice to meet you." She smiled back warmly.
Cira walked out of the cave with our dragons following lazily behind her. They looked like that had just woken up from a nap and it suprised me how calm they looked.
"We only gave them some sagefruit and nothing more since we don't know how you like their temperment." She said and our dragons walked over to us and sat down.
A Razorwhip with purple eyes followed behind Cara. The two seemed to match each other perfectly with their silver armor.
But what did she mean by 'how we like their temperment'?
"Thank you, Cira." Viggo he dipped his head while holding a tone that made him seem like he knew exactly what she was talking about, a skill he learned from his time as a dragon hunter and businessman.
"Woah! You have a Falcon Fury! You must be really strong to have captured one of those." She smiled and studied Navjeev, "Ooooo, a Speedstinger."
She crouched down and reached her hand out to a sleepy Ravi who started sniffing her hand. Eris slightly pulled her hand back like she wasn't expecting the reaction from Ravi but her smile returned when Ravi nuzzled her hand with her snout.
Eris got back to her feet and now put her attention on Zyran. It seemed like she was testing for the reaction again as she held out her hand to Zyran. Like Ravi, she also sniffed her hand but Zyran turned her head away from Eris who seemed slightly disappointed.
Viggo studied her the whole time, watching her reaction with the dragons and how she seemed surprised by them sniffing her.
"Oh, you guys should meet my dragon! I will be right back, wait here." Eris started running off in the direction of houses.
"I'm going to get one of out spare houses setup since you guys are going to be staying here for awhile" Cira said as she got into the saddle on the Razorwhip's back and flew off.
As she flew off, I noticed something that seemed to be the same with all the dragons here. Their pupils were always thin like they were alert or anxious. There were dragons around the village but they were all following people or were with people. No dragons were flying around freely, all were with riders. Maybe it was some kind of training that made them stay with their owners but it made my stomach churn.
Eris came back a little while later with a green and blue Scuttleclaw following behind her. Like the other dragons here, their pupils were also thin.
"This is my girl Ivy" She smiled and gestured to the large Scuttleclaw.
"May I pet her?" Viggo asked with a slight look of curiosity on his face, like he had come up with an idea and wanted to test something.
"Yeah, go ahead." Eris walked to her dragon and put a hand on her neck.
Viggo walked up to the Scuttleclaw and offered his hand for the dragon to sniff. Her thin pupils stared at his hand which was the only reaction she gave. After a moment, Viggo placed his hand on the dragon's snout and ran his hand along her head like he was inspecting her. He seemed to test her reaction to which she gave none.
"She's a gorgeous dragon." Viggo finally turned to Eris then walked back to Zyran and placed his hand on her snout.
"What are your dragon's names?" Eris asked.
"This is Navjeev and Ravi. Viggo's dragon is Zyran." I gestured to each of our dragons, slightly hesitant to be giving her information, even about our dragons.
"Those are really cool names. Our chief currently has a Falcon Fury. It's his third dragon, he's had another Falcon Fury before and a Night Fury." Eris smiled like what she said was no big deal.
The chief has a Falcon Fury. That's why Momma V brought us here. They want us to get the Falcon Fury back.
"What is your chief's name?" Viggo asked. I could tell he wanted more details on the chief's dragons and what happened to them but decided against directly asking.
"His name is Aegir, you'll get to meet him soon hopefully." Eris answered and the thought of meeting their chief made me anxious.
I looked at Viggo, silently asking if he has heard of that name and he slightly shook his head.
"Alright, I got your place set up." Cira's Razorwhip landed beside us, "We will take you there so you two can drop anything you want off there then Eris and I can give you a tour of the island."
"That would be great, thank you." Viggo said and I smiled at Cira to keep a friendly appearance.
Cira and Eris led us through the village. I noticed they had lots of things for dragons, saddles and such. I also noticed a lot of the people had dragons scales with their clothes. Hiccup mentioned something about using dragons scales that have been shed for things but something seemed about these scales seemed different.
They stopped at house by a cliff that looked out to the ocean. The house was fairly small and old looking which made me think they didn't use it much.
"We will be back in an hour to show to two around." Cira said and hopped back on her Razorwhip.
"Cya later!" Eris waved to us and walked out of view with Ivy following closely behind her.
"This place is weird." I said to Viggo and turned the knob to open the door then walked in.
