Luna was sitting by herself in the center of the practice space at 8:00 in the morning. All that was audible was heavy breathing and background music. After training with Pledis Entertainment for a few months, she had recently signed with Bighit Entertainment. She left because she didn't see a future in Pledis, and since Pristin had recently broken up, her decision was final.
She joined bighit almost three weeks ago, and despite the friendliness of everyone and the positive mood, she hasn't made any friends. The first of her monthly evaluations was coming up, and she wanted to make a good impression on everyone. She made the choice to create her own dance to Mino's song Fiance. She could sing, no doubt, but her dancing skills were much more assured
The majority of the song's choreography was done, and everything was going well, but she lacked confidence in both herself and the choreography. She stretched out on the floor while gazing up at the ceiling. As she was doing so, she heard the door suddenly open. She hurriedly stood up and saw two male trainees entering while conversing with one another. When they spotted Luna, they both stopped moving along their path.
"Oh, we're sorry, we didn't realize someone was using this area", they bowed before making their way out.
She stood up and said, "No, it's alright, you guys can use this room. I was about to leave. She considered it only fair to give them the practice room as she was a new trainee."
The boys entered the room, their expressions showing signs of curiosity.
"Are you leaving?" inquired James
Taking her bag she said "Yes, so you guys can use this room."
Woochan stated, "We can all use it," as he awaited the opposing viewpoint.
Luna and James both agreed right away.
There was awkwardness in the room as they all set their suitcases down in the corner. James spoke first, breaking the ice.
'"Hello my name is James, this is Woochan. What is your name?"
"Hello, my name is Mei Ling, i'm from China and a former Pledis trainee."
"So, did you get to meet the seventeen members?"
Luna gave a "yes" nod.
"Are you new?" We've never met before, right?" Woochan spoke for the first time .
"Yes, I just recently joined, and I'm getting ready for the monthly evaluation."
"Oh, we're doing a duet together."
They individually trained for their evaluation once they felt more at ease with one another.
While rehearsing, Luna kept sneaking looks towards the boys. She finally mustered the guts to ask, "Can you guys give me feedback on my choreography?"
Both boys nodded, sitting down in front of the big mirrors.
"I created my own choreography for the Mino song Fiance" for the monthly evaluation." She bowed and got into position, saying, "This is not the set choreo, so if you have any input please let me know."
AFTER DANCE
Before bowing, Luna kept her position for a brief moment. Both boys applauded as she sipped water to rehydrate herself.
Woochan remarked, "It was extremely amazing, but the biggest problem was your facial expressions."
"Yes, as we saw in your facial expressions—James continued—"you were definitely too nervous about performing the routines, therefore you didn't look confident or like you were having fun." James went on.
For a while, they conversed while supporting one another. While she assisted them with their dance, James and Woochan assisted Luna with her choreography and facial expressions.
She was almost late for her vocal lessons because hours had passed. The boys requested for her phone number as she hurriedly packed her belongings. They thought she was a good assistant and fun to hang out with, despite the fact that she was a little resistant. She and the other guys wrote down their phone numbers on paper because she didn't have her phone on her.
When she returned to her dorm, she found that the boys had already created a group chat for the three of them via SMS. Luna was so ecstatic to have made two new friends in one day that she couldn't contain her joy.
WEEKS LATER
The room was filled with more than 20 trainees practicing for their performance. Luna entered the room while holding her bag and wearing her performance outfit. She noticed James and Woochan waving at her when she turned to look around the room. She smiled walking towards them and sitting in an empty spot next to them as they introduced her to other male trainees
After some time, a staff member asked if she required a microphone; she declined. A microphone was pointless because she was only dancing today and not singing.
AFTER EVALUATION
Luna felt good about herself. She was able to impress the judges and trainees with her dance abilities, earning her a spot in third place on her chart of monthly evaluations. Which she considered to be a respectable position given that the two trainees in front of her had simultaneously danced and sung.Woochan and James congratulated her and she did the same.She had made up her mind that joining Bighit was the best course of action.
