TRIGGER WARNING: Depiction of panic in paragraph one and two
Nat's POV:

Central Europe 07/15/2009

The guilt that was  filling Nat's lungs was only getting worse when she felt the wet line  that was cooling down the skin on her forearm. She had made Kate cry.  She never meant for it to get this far. She never wanted to hurt her  like this. She just wanted to help her. She just wanted to make sure she  would be safe throughout this mission. She just wanted to...

The  room started turning and the heat was rising inside her. Colorful spots  spread across her vision as all her worries tried to break free. This  wasn't the time to let this happen. Not the time or the place. She  didn't know where Kate went but she had to get herself together. She had  to stay strong. She stayed on the floor and rested her hands on her  chest. She closed her eyes and took in breath after breath trying to  convince herself that she wasn't the monster she believed herself to be.  What if Kate sees her that way, too? What if she won't be able to make  it up to her? What if Kate won't forgive her? She couldn't let that  happen! She had to get up and do something. She had to try and apologize  to Kate.

She  opened her eyes and sat up only now realizing how much her side hurt.  She had to have gotten a bruise from earlier but that didn't matter now.  The only thing that mattered was, showing Kate she really was sorry for  overstepping. Okay, maybe not the only thing that mattered she admitted  when she heard the rustling from the communication devices inside the  cockpit. She had to check in with the tower for the waypoint first. But  then it's time to make it up to her!

Nat  walked into the cockpit and knew exactly what she was going to do to  apologize. She checked in with the radio tower and left the cockpit  looking around for any sign of Kate. When she was sure that she wasn't  around she snuck to the overhead compartments where they stored  necessities and started to set everything up.

TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of torture

Kate  nodded her head to the vibrant chorus of Numb by Linkin Park trying to  calm her anger. On the inside of her hand, her nails had left moon-like  imprints that slowly disappeared. Her anger diminished as the last bits  of melody played out. Regret grew inside her about her behavior. She let  her rage take control. She hurt Nat. She might've deserved one or two  hits to the ribs and maybe even the words that she had chosen but not  the number of hits that she inflicted on her.

A  knock on the side of her bunk bed pulled her attention back to the  present. She pulled back the curtain and looked directly at Nat. They  both looked down scared to make the first step.

"I..."

"Is some..", they both started and stopped. Kate signaled Nat to go on and she gave her a grateful nod.

"I have something I want to show you...if you want to come with me?", she asked carefully, ready to accept rejection.

"Alright.", Kate said and slipped down from her bunk bed and walked by Natasha's side.

The  silence between them was awkward. Not something that either of them  enjoyed. Nat looked over at Kate and gave her a genuine but shy smile  before she opened the door to the cockpit.

Kate's  mouth opened in awe at what she saw. The stars above them shimmered  brightly and the clouds under the plane's nose had a purple-ish tone.  She hadn't seen the stars this clearly since she had finished her  piloting days.

She  was so fascinated by the sight that she hadn't even noticed how Nat had  slipped out of the cockpit and returned with a blanket and two cups.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?", Nat asked when Kate still hadn't moved a bit.
