TRIGGER WARNING: blood, violence, and injuries

Kate's POV:

Tehran, Iran 07/18/2009

After a few more fights, which were mostly fist fights, they made their way to the door to the lobby. They listened through the doors as much as possible and knew that some of their opponents were on the upper floor's patio, and a bunch of them guarded the lower room. Kate bit her lip as she considered the following actions but concluded: "All of you stay here. Do not go inside before you get a signal. I'll try to clean up the top floor first." She started to take off her Hijab and suit jacket binding both around her waist.

"What's the signal?", Kamran asked a little confused.

"Well, either I'll tell Hosseini through radio, or you'll hear the guards shooting from this floor.", she answered almost a little humorously. "Also, lock them somewhere safe and tell Agent Romanoff.", she pointed at father and child and walked towards the stairwell.

Her hands held on to her gun and flashlight as she snuck upstairs. The first problem presented itself quite fast, as she couldn't walk up the stairs completely, since a security guard paroled the space. She couldn't sneak past him, but she didn't want to shoot him either. She thought about it really hard until she thought of her tie. Silently she untied it and while at it opened a few buttons. Curling it up to one big knot she aimed at the vase that was conveniently close to her. It knocked the vase over and the guy turned to check it. Using the moment she created, she knocked him out with a dedicated punch to the neck with the end of her gun. Falling to the ground he made a thud, but she just moved on. Going through the smoky glass doors, she encountered yet another guard, who she quickly punched out of his job. Using his body as a shield, she ran towards the next opponent, keeping him from shooting his buddy. With her shoulder out, she rammed into him, kicking his head as he fell to the ground. Freeing both men of their guns she hid behind a heavy wooden table as the first bullets flew in her direction.

"Okay guys, that's the signal.", she called through the blasting sounds of the bullets. One quick, random shot from her gun behind the desk is followed by a painful sigh. She had gotten lucky. One, maybe two fewer shooters. Three left. There it was an empty click to her right. Lurking over the edge she shot the guy in his abdomen before he could reload. Yet another one was down, though not because of one of her bullets. Maya had successfully taken out the last remaining guard on Kate's level. Turning her attention downwards, she fired at the men below her. Hitting one, then the second, the third, and the fourth. Empty. Reload. Aim and- Fuck.

Hosseini's hands were up in the air, while a muscular arm was wrapped around his neck. The gun's tip rested on his sleeve.

"أسقط بندقيتك واستسلم" ("Drop your guns and surrender"), the man shouted while one man pointed a gun at the back of Maya's head without restricting her. Confused Kate looked at Maya, who translated for her. "We should drop our guns and surrender."

Kate squatted behind the table unable to decide. Whatever she would choose someone would get hurt. At least they had locked Kamran and Daria in a different room, so they'd be safe. She didn't have a choice, did she? At least Natasha could find Kamran and his girl and bring them to safety. Slowly she raised her hands and got up from behind the table, Maya dropped her gun and they had given up.

Until the loud sound of shattering glass pulled everyone's attention to the backyard, where a dark figure fell from the first story down onto the grass. Acting as fast as she could she shot the men holding Hosseini hostage, hoping that Maya would use the chance to take out the man behind her. Her hope was fulfilled and she quickly hopped off the balcony onto a couch, shouting at the two spies: "Get the two here now!" as she ran outside at full speed. Where two men hovered above Natasha who was coughing from the fall. She tackled one to the ground and Natasha kicked the other right between his legs, only to jump to her feet and tie a dark fabric around his throat, pulling it till the man's face lost color. Kate's fists hurt as Natasha helped her up.

"Thanks.", Natasha exclaimed a little out of breath.

"You're welcome.", Kate said shaking out her hands and looking at the others catching up to them. "Okay, no time to waste. Hosseini-", she stopped herself as she realized that this was Natasha's part from now on.

"Hosseini, you lead on. Agent Davis and I will keep them off your back. If we don't arrive at the airport within half an hour of your arrival you leave and fly home. Now, let's get a move on.", Natasha clapped her hands and they did as they were told.

Shared POV:

Running towards the exit of the garden, leading them to the parking lot the family and Hossieni were a good five meters ahead of them as they tried to defend themselves against a group of five. Natasha, being occupied with three of them, Kate took on one relatively slim one, sweeping him off his feet and kicking him to the ground. The next guy pulled a metal rod from the flowerbed, swinging it at her. She dodged some of them better than others, turning in a circle with him. The next swing came right at her head faster than she expected, and she dropped to the floor. Into the flowerbed. Reaching above her head for a rod for herself she pulled two out of the ground, parrying the follow-up swing. Kicking his knee, she rolled out from under him, got up, and swung at him. What followed was another turn in the circle, with immaculate footwork, some better or worse swings, and parries. He managed to release her of one rod, but other than that it went all perfectly for her. She had his arm locked, hit his rod out of his arm, dropping her own rod to dislocate his elbow. At that moment she looked up to check on her partner. Natasha had just shot through the man's head, using his body to push herself off the ground, wrap her legs around another's neck, sitting on his shoulders she pulled the trigger yet again, rolling off his corpse, getting to her knees, shooting both kneecaps of another guard within seconds.

And there it was. A twist, a crack, and a scream. Her humerus cracked out of its articulated saddle and a scream, loud enough for her partner to hear, left Kate's throat.

Natasha quickly pulled the trigger on the last one standing and then turned to put one more bullet into the head of the man who hurt her partner. The body fell to the ground like an empty bag. Rushing over to Kate who straightened her back.

"What happened?", she asked, then saw the way her arm hang around. "Oh, don't worry we got that let me just...", Natasha moved closer, but Kate shook her head.

She just took her arm and with one quick, but painful, motion she relocated her shoulder. "Not necessary."

"What did you just do?! Do you know how much can go wrong if you do it like that?!", Natasha hissed at her shocked checking if the joint was fine.

Kate shook her off and started walking. "I've got practice and we don't have time for this. Let's go.", she said ignoring the actual amount of pain she felt from that, jogging towards the parking lot before more security would come for them. Looking back at the pile of human flesh her partner had left behind.

Grudgingly Natasha agreed and caught up with her and they got to their car in time to see the garage doors open.
