Life can take you by surprise. I know that. I've seen it happen before. In fact, pretty much every aspect of my life has been a surprise.

To Jordan, being shot was a surprise. Seeing his dead brother was a punch in the face. There was a definite difference. I don't think Jordan had ever been caught off guard— not until that day.

I'd been on my way home from the play, just like everyone else. And just like everyone else, I was quick to learn that Fez's house had been raided. Ash was dead, Fez was in custody, and an innocent Jordan was at the hospital. All three were separated for the first time since Ash's adoption.

I think I needed to be there for him. At least, that's what Elliot said. He said Jordan (from what I'd told him) had always been by my side. It was my turn to push my awkwardness away and finally comfort Jordan, who was going through a tough time.

I agreed. Even though I knew I was practically incapable of such a thing, I had to try. Maybe I made it better, maybe I made it worse. The answer depends on if you see the glass half-full or half-empty.
