TW// cussing, very brief self harm scar mention
Raven's POV
Weeks laterThis is it. The Grand Prix Final. I'm actually here. My whole life, I've looked forward to this moment, and it's finally happening. So far from my family, my home. Hours in air travel. I've never been so far from home for so long. Or, away from home at all.
Apparently, this is one of the only times Faro hasn't competed. Once, because he had a bad injury, and now, because he's my coach.
"You're gonna do amazing, love. Calm down. Just breathe." Faro said, holding my hands. "I'm so fucking nervous, Faro. W-What if I fall? Or- Or forget what I'm supposed to do?" I asked. "You're not going to fall. You have immaculate balance, ok? And if you forget what to do, which I doubt I'll happed, but if you do, improvise." He said.
"Improvise? You want me to improvise?" I asked. "Yes. But only if you have to. Don't just go off and change it for no reason." He chuckled. I nodded.
"If you do find yourself improvising, just do whatever your mind thinks up. If you think for even a second to do a certain move on a certain part, do it. Ninety-nine percent of the time, it'll look great." Faro said. "Ok, I will. Thank you." I said.
Faro smiled.
"You're on in five, Crimson!" Someone yelled. I shot them a thumbs up, and they left.
I shakily exhaled.
"Nerve wracking being on live television." I laughed under my breath. "Yes, but, you get used to it. Took me a while, but I did." Faro smiled. "That's because you have hundreds of thousands of fans because you're a perfect skater." I said.
"Well, maybe, hopefully, pretty soon, you'll have hundreds of thousands of fans too." Faro patted my arm. I smiled.
The thought of having actual fans, besides my family, made my heart skip a beat. In a good way, though.
"Now go! I'll be watching from the side." Faro said. "Ok," I said, reaching up and giving him a light kiss on the cheek, "Thank you, for everything." I smiled. "Well don't say it like you're dying, love." He laughed. I giggled, and sped off.
There were a couple people there making sure my outfit was situated correctly (which it was because Faro fixed it) before I got on the ice. My outfit was the original one that Faro gave me that first time we ever practiced together. With the one sleeve, showing just a few of my old scars on the opposite arm.
[FYI, I actually have no idea how this stuff works, and it's been a while since I've watched any figure skating or Yuri On Ice, so please forgive me if some stuff is wrong about what the announcer ppl say or something. Thanks <3 !!!]
"And coming all the way from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, please welcome, Raven Crimson!" The dude said over his microphone as I skated out into the middle of the ice. "This is Crimsons first time ever competing in the finals, and also his first year competing in general! Give him a round off applause and wish him luck!"
People clapped and whistled, including my opponents. That warmed my heart. I'm going against these people, yet they're still cheering me on.
Thousands of eyes started at me, plus who knows how many watching from home on their televisions.
My family was watching at the rink with Uneva, as there are large televisions in the rink. I could imagine Sashi's squeals as I appeared on the screen, probably shouting something along the lines of, "that's my big brother!"
"Performing to the song What About Us by Pink, here is the program he calls;"
The guy read his paper for a moment as the lights dimmed. I took a shaky breath.
"Battle Scars."
