TW// cussing, talk of past self harm and self harm recovery

Raven's POV

After a longer while of other peoples performances, and waiting for our scores to be totaled and stuff, it was finally time to announce the winners.

"You go out there and show them who's boss!" Faro hugged me. "I believe in you." He said.

"Permission to mention my boyfriend, Faro Carson, if I place top three?" I asked jokingly. "You know what? Fuck it. If you place top three, you can out me to the whole world, call me your boyfriend, and we'll smooch on live television." He grinned. I laughed. "Don't call it outing you because I'll feel bad!" I said.

"Hm. Ok. I'll reword it. If you place top three, you can help me come out to the whole world and my mum, call me your boyfriend, and we'll smooch on live television." He smiled. "Yeah, that sounds better." I said.

"Alright, go get 'em, tiger."

[Again, I don't really know how this stuff works!]

We were all lined up on the ice was they began to call third place.

"Third place bronze goes to...Yuzuru Hanyu from Sendai, Japan!" Everyone, including me, clapped as the man stepped up, accepting his metal with a large smile. Third, yet he is still happy. That's great of him.

"Second place silver...Victor Nikiforov from Saint Petersburg, Russia!"
(👀)

More clapping.

"And finally, the gold winner of the Grand Prix Final is..."

I contently awaited the name he'd say, as there is no way I could have gotten-

"Raven Crimson from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil!" He shouted.

I swear my heart full on stopped. There's no way in hell that I won. Gold? My first time? The skater beside of me patted my back, nudging me with a big smile on his face to go forward and accept my medal, which I did.

I held the gold of the medal in my hands as it was around my neck. It was beautiful.

I heard a very distant "woo!" overtop the crowd of cheers, recognizing that specific voice to be Faro's.

Moments later, there was a camera and a microphone and a reporter lady in front of me.

"How does it feel winning gold your first time?" She asked, holding the microphone up to me. "It- It feels great!" I laughed. She smiled. "Are you aware that you are the youngest to ever win gold their first time?" She asked. "Well I'm aware now!" I said, running my fingers through my hair, still in shock.

"Is there anything you would like to say to the camera? Family back home?" She asked, handing me the mic.

"Thank you, mom, and dad, and Sashi! I love you three so much! Thank you for never giving up on me and letting me peruse my dream!" I said, holding up a heart with my hands.

I looked over where Faro stood. He nodded, so I spoke.

"And- And I would like to thank my amazing coach, and beautiful boyfriend, Faro Carson, for helping me come this far!" I pointed his way. People whispered for a moment, before clapping. That's a lot of allys.

The cameras turned to where I was pointing, and Faro lightly waved.

I handed the mic back to the lady and quickly skated towards Faro. I didn't care about the whole "smooching on live television" thing. I just wanted to give my boyfriend a kiss.

I jumped into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist as he held onto my thighs. Me, now slightly above him, held his face in my hands and pressed my lips into his, closing my eyes.

He slowly put me down, our lips still connected, him now leaning over some.

We pulled away and I noticed the camera person and the reporter lady coming our way.

"Anything you wanna say about this, uh, sudden news, you two?" She asked, holding the mic up.

"I hope you support the gays, mom and dad!" I laughed into the mic. She held it up for Faro. "Same here, sorry mum! Hope you're ok with this!" He giggled, pressing his lips against my cheek.

We were talking loudly with the '!' because it was slightly difficult to hear ourselves over the loud fans and crowd.

"Tell us, Raven, and coach/boyfriend, what was the exact concept behind tonight's performance, Battle Scars, that you did so stunningly?" The lady asked. "It was, uh, It was based off of self harm recovery, actually." I said. "What a concept. Turned something like that into a beautiful performance." She exhaled.

"Well, personally, I think recovering from self harm is beautiful in itself." I shrugged. Only now did I realize how quiet the audience was as they listened. "That is very true. Smart boy, that's what you are." She said. I smiled. "Thank you."

"Though, why is that what you chose your program to be?" She asked. "Of course, you do not have to answer that if it is personal." She added, very respectfully.

I glanced over at Faro, and he lightly smiled.

"No, it's alright. Uhm, actually, the reason why I chose that is because I uhm, I have actually experienced that recovery myself." I nodded, swallowing. She frowned. "I have been clean for probably about two and a half months now, but let me tell you, it's been the best two and a half months I've had in a while, I promise you that." I smiled.

"That is truly heartbreaking, Raven. Me and I'm sure many others either here or watching from home sympathize for you." She smiling. "I appreciate that." I said.

"Couldn't have done it without Faro, though." I said, holding up our interlocked hands. He smiled.

"Are you both aware that you are the first openly homosexual couple in figure skating? You're History Makers, boys!" She said.

"We- We are?!" Faro asked. She nodded. Faro and I looked at each other, smiling, and then hugging. Our height difference was quite comical, my head only reaching his chest.

"History makers..." I whispered. "How fun."
