No Control (Liam Payne)

Chapter 35

Back at the villa we have a nice dinner, Liam tells me he has a surprise planned for me. "I'll come get you when it's ready."

I'm intrigued by this surprise. Changing into a white lace dress that I bought just for the trip, I sit by the pool to wait. That doesn't last though, it's quite chilly tonight, so I wait it out in the bedroom instead.

After a bit, Liam comes back in the bedroom. He gives me an adorable grin and says he needs one more minute.

My breath catches when he walks back into the room wearing dark wash jeans, with a light denim shirt unbuttoned the perfect amount. He approaches me with such a big grin, he looks like he's going to burst.

"You must be really excited about this surprise." I put my arms around his waist. He does the same to me.

"Actually I am." He winks. "You look absolutely beautiful, Liz."

"You look absolutely delicious, Mr. Payne." I get on my tiptoes to kiss him.

He whispers in my ear. "Come with me." Taking my hand, leading me to the living room.

It is breathtaking. Liam has a fire roaring in the huge fireplace, and if that doesn't create enough of a romantic glow, he has candles all around the room. There are blankets and pillows on the floor in front of the fireplace. Music is playing softly.

"Liam, I love it. I can't imagine anything more romantic."

"Oh, Love, it's only going to get better." Taking me in his arms, we begin to sway to the music.

My heart skips a beat when I hear the beginning notes of Not a Bad Thing by Justin Timberlake. I look up into Liam's eyes and he begins to sing it to me. Our eyes are firmly affixed on the others. I eagerly take in every word he's singing, with such feeling.

"Now how about I be the last voice you hear tonight? And every other night for the rest of the nights that there are Every morning I just wanna see you staring back at me"

Oh my heart...The look in Liam's perfect dark eyes as he sings these words to me.

"I know people make promises all the time Then they turn right around and break them When someone cuts your heart open with a knife now you're bleeding Don't you know that I could be that guy to heal it over time And I won't stop until you believe it Cause baby you're worth it"

My heart overflows, as do the tears in my eyes. Liam reaches up, wiping them away as he continues.

"So don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me Cause you might fuck around to find your dreams come true with me"

All those nights ago, when Liam and I decided to try a friends with benefits relationship, I had no idea he'd ever sing these words to me. Or that he'd be the one to heal my broken heart.

"And if you fall you'll always land right in these arms, These arms of mine"

As the song ends, I see the tears welling up in Liam's eyes as well. I lay my hand aside his face. "Thank you." Is all I can manage to get out.

"I meant every word, Love." He tells me quietly, sweetly. "I want to be the one to heal you."

"Liam, you've already done so much to heal my heart." We share several passionate kisses. "Do you want to know what the lady at Juliet's house said today?"

He smiles. "I had a feeling you were holding out on me, Darling."

"I was just afraid that it might freak you out." I explain.

He looks extremely curious.

"She said Amore Vero." I say.

"Yes, she was rather adamant about that." Liam says.

"That means....True love."

His eyebrows shoot up.

"The other thing she said, Per Sempre, means...Forever." I cautiously wait for his reaction.

"And this is something she felt from us? That's why the touching?" He asks.

"Yes, while you were getting us drinks, a woman approached me. She told me that lady has a gift, and that we can believe her."

I watch Liam closely. He thinks for a moment, then pulls me in close, smiling. "Well, that's pretty amazing."

I look at the ground. "I'm not sure if I believe."

Liam lifts my chin to meet his eyes. "I believe." Then his mouth is on mine. I eagerly accept his urging tongue. Everytime I think I can't possibly feel more for, or want this man more, I am proven wrong.

Liam pulls back, he doesn't say a word, but his eyes say it all. He takes my hand, leading me to the fireplace.
