61. Driveway Meet Ups

You heard the people outside murmur as you pulled into the driveway. Nerves started to creep into your system as you listened to their voices.

"Did someone order pizza?"

"No."

"Why are you looking at me?"

"Do you think I'd order pizza right now?"

"Well, who did then?"

You let the sound of the radio finally fade out as Johnathan turned off the engine, allowing you all to clamber out of the vehicle.

The six of you stood in a line outside the van, facing the five people outside of Mike's home.

El, Will, Mike and Johnathan all smiled at their friends, Argyle just looked confused (or high) and you had absolutely no idea what you were meant to do so you just stood there awkwardly smiling at them.

It can't have just been their friends one of them looked a lot older. You guessed that was Mike's mum. The other four looked a lot younger.

There was a boy that looked around Johnathan's age, he had a mullet and he was looking to the girl beside him with curly hair. You assumed that this girl was Nancy, due to the way she was looking at Johnathan.

Jonathan folded and instantaneously ran over to her. Mike did the same, rushing over to his mum. Then Will and El ran over to the smaller boy with braces and a curly mullet, pulling him into a hug.

You couldn't help but feel a little awkward again as you and Argyle waited around the van.

"Well this is great man." Argyle muttered as he watched the others hug, "It's gonna be a pain to get back to good old Lenora isn't it... I'm not doing another 30 hours in the car."

"Yeah, but I reckon we'll be here for a while." You answered, watching the others too, "I mean you've seen the mess."

"Yeah, it's bad."

You nodded, "I know."

They all started to talk amongst themselves, catching up with each other. It was all positive for a little, but when the conversation changed to Max, that was when everyone's faces fell.

Suddenly, everyone rushed to their cars, Will and El looked terrified and Mike looked worried. Nancy came with Johnathan to your van, hurrying into the front two seats.

Argyle, Will, El and Mike crammed into the back, leaving barely any space for you. You tried to squeeze in but there was no point, you didn't fit in the car.

"Aww man, looks like you'll have to go with them." Argyle pointed a shaky hand at the shiny Beamer parked opposite.

Your eyes followed his directions, accidentally making direct contact with the short boy with the curly hair and braces.

He held the car door open and quickly shouted something to the two in the front. They spoke quietly for a moment then the boy ushered you over.

You awkwardly walked towards the car, opened the door and climbed into the back.

"So you're Will's girlfriend huh?" The boy with the braces began.

You couldn't help but roll your eyes, not this again...
