I was right. There were a lot of people at the sports festival. The day finally arrived and everyone rushed not to miss it. Every event was very important but the most important one was by far the sparring tournament. While preparing I got separated from Cadmael but I didn't mind. He was most certainly bullied but I knew that in a few minutes he was going to prove to everyone what he was capable of. It was time to let him fly.

I said that I was confident but in reality I was really anxious. I changed the story too much and even if Cadmael was a fast learner, I was scared that he didn't have the same level as in the book. What if he didn't win? Would all the future change? Would he be even more bullied? I didn't know what to do and started walking all over.

Some people came to talk to me wishing me good luck and telling me that they were sure I would win. I didn't really mind them because all the stress made them disappear in my eyes anyway. They still blocked my way however which was irritating. Amongst the crowd, I saw GIlbert who waved with a smile:

"Hey! Good luck for the tournament.

-Thank you but I won't win.

-Don't be so hard on yourself. Do your best and that's all that you have to do.

-Thank you. Did you sign up for something?

-Me? Nope. That wouldn't go with my image of a weak cutie. Plus I suck at sports but I don't really like to admit it.

-Everyone has their weak points.

-Not me though."

Gilbert signed, seeming very depressed. However the next second he smiled with all his face:

"It doesn't matter. I am here for the buffet anyway. Well, I am technically here to cheer on my little Andrew but in reality it is for the buffet."

Gilbert seemed so excited for the buffet that I couldn't help but laugh:

"I'll cheer for you too, don't worry. With all my heart.

-Thank you, Gilbert. It is very nice of you.

-I know. I'm adorable. Who would resist me?"

I laughed again and Gilbert left to find Andrew. He didn't seem very excited about it, which I could understand. I didn't get to see Cadmael and the tournament started. Cadmael was the first to compete against one of our classmates. Everyone laughed when they saw Cadmael which really pissed me off. I wanted to strangle them. He was just a child. How could you be so mean? What did your parents teach you? Moreover he was the next emperor. All of you were going to lose your heads.

Cadmael won without difficulty which cast a chill on the assembly. No one expected him to win so easily and I was so satisfied that I wanted to dance. This was my work! I made him this strong! Without me he only cried in front of his bullies. I was so proud of my creation that I didn't mind losing. Who could be jealous of their creation?

As decided, I lost my match. The man against me wasn't that strong but it wasn't that hard to lose against him either. While sparring he always aimed at my fingers holding the sword and I couldn't evade it all the time. My fingers became a little red and I rubbed them continuously. Gilbert immediately appeared with ice after seeing my match and Cadmael followed a little later. He made a really weird face and couldn't take his eyes off my hand.

"Does it hurt?"

I smiled.

"No it's okay."

Gilbert shook his head:

"Of course it hurts. No one likes to be slapped on the fingers. Look how red they are."

I hid my hand without realizing and Cadmael was still very focused on my movements. He was so silent that I started to get scared:

"Cadmael?"

He turned around and left without a word. In the meanwhile another person made his appearance and I recognised him immediately: Andrew. He was almost as tall as Cadmael but way slimmer. He had straight hair and a very dark expression on his face. He grabbed Gilbert and pulled him with force:

"What are you doing here?

-I was just helping a friend. He got hurt while sparring..."

Seeing Gilbert all shy and weak was very strange and I couldn't take my eyes off him for a moment.

"I told you to get me a drink and this is what you do? I see that my words aren't that important for you.

-I'm sorry... But he got really hurt and I wanted to help.

-Who are you to help him? Stop butting into everyone's business."

Andrew suddenly turned around and dragged Gilbert after him. Gilbert started crying and apologizing but when he turned to me he just winked. I got goosebumps. This was way too scary.

Cadmael won all of his matches and suddenly found himself face to face with the one whom I lost against. No one dared make a sound and even the man who hurt me backed away by reflex. The expression on Cadmael's face was terrifying. I never saw him like that and was myself stunned for a good moment. If I didn't know how weak he was mentally I would have thought that he was the Cadmael of the novel, ruthless and bloodthirsty. His face definitely didn't go with his personality.

Just as his expression, Cadmael's movements were terrifying and towering. His opponent had no chance of winning the match and was beaten again and again. Cadmael was focusing on his opponents fingers and continued attacking until he couldn't hold the sword anymore. The opponents fingers were covered in blood and I looked away. No one stopped them because they were still standing without a problem and Cadmael started aiming at the opponent's torso. He didn't let him a second of peace and attacked him from all angles possible. At the end of the round, Cadmael's opponent was unrecognizable. The jury was a little puzzled but no rule was broken so Cadmael got to the next round.

The Cadmael of the book was really good at controlling his anger as a kid and he won fair and square. I didn't know how he got so carried away. Maybe he was really scared seeing that this guy won against his master. Scared animals were dangerous. Thinking about the look on his face I couldn't help but feel uneasy. Was this the face he made when he killed Eschyle? I shook my head. Stop with all the useless thoughts.

Cadmael won the tournament and more and more people started cheering for him along the different matches. It was really satisfying and at the same time upsetting to see this many people applauding his victory. All of these people who at the beginning ignored or even bullied him now said that they always knew he would win. I didn't have any patience for these people. The worst was when they came gossiping with me about Cadmael because they knew that we always were together. They asked me to introduce them but I really didn't want to. You were all bullies.
