Andrew didn't know why Gilbert needed money that much but now that he saw the wound, he started to worry. What if Gilbert had problems he didn't know about? Gilbert wasn't really the kind of person to talk about himself and Andrew had to discover everything alone. He didn't dare spy on Gilbert for fear of scaring him away but now he saw no other solution. He had to know that Gilbert was okay. He had to save him.

Before getting to that, Andrew decided to start by a little chat. Gilbert was hard to question and Andrew started by doing everything he liked to have him lower his guard. He prepared him coffee with even a little caramel in it and bought him some hazelnuts that he put in front of him. Gilbert thanked him and started eating in a good mood. Andrew took advantage of the situation to ask:

"Is your wound better?"

Gilbert didn't have any reaction and continued drinking happily:

"Yupp. I don't feel it anymore.

-I'm glad. I got really worried about you.

-You shouldn't.

-Could I ask how it happened?

-Nope."

Gilbert shot him down but he was still in a good mood. Therefore, Andrew tried to insist:

"I would really love to help you. No matter what it is. You just have to say the word and I'll do it.

-No need.

-But I am worried about you.

-Don't be."

Gilbert started to be irritated but Andrew couldn't stop:

"You don't deserve to be hurt, Gilbert. Please let me help you."

Gilbert put down his mug and looked at Andrew. His eyes were cold and distant being the thing Andrew feared the most:

"Don't butt in. I said it's fine."

Andrew wanted to say so much more but he realized he couldn't and that frustrated him even more. He couldn't wait anymore and called for someone to follow Gilbert.

"Tell me everything he does and everyone he sees. Don't get caught."

And a few days passed without anything interesting happening. The wound was healing and Gilbert still wasn't confiding. Andrew came everyday with a coffee and tried getting on the subject but everytime Gilbert shot him down immediately. Andrew could have asked Eschyle for advice but at the beginning he wanted to solve this alone. However, he soon lost patience and went to look for Eschyle. He didn't get far because Cadmael soon caught him:

"What are you doing?

-I wanted to speak to Eschyle.

-About what?

-Something."

Cadmael wasn't convinced and didn't let Andrew through. This wasn't the first time he would send someone who came to see Eschyle away and it wouldn't be the last. Fortunately Andrew didn't have to wait a lot more because his man came back with news:

"I followed him as requested and saw him head to a notorious alley.

-Notorious for what?

-For loan sharks."

Andrew frowned. Did Gilbert owe money to someone? How much could he owe for him to get beaten up. He gave him so much. Wasn't it enough?

"Is that all?

-Here is the profile of the man he met. He came out after half an hour and headed home.

-Good job. Is there more?
