Nothing to worry about-Xiao X Reader

(Written from Xiao's POV. Everything in italics is the nightmare.) ⚠️TW There is gore in the nightmare⚠️

  I gasped as I sat up, recounting the nightmare. The terror still fresh in my mind. I felt like my body was trembling. I took a deep breath trying to calm down.

   I felt surging pain all over my body it was night outside my arms were covered in blood and I felt like I couldn't move my body only my eyes. I tried to say Y/N's name to call out to them for help, but nothing but a pathetic whimper came out. I was....scared I didn't know where they were or if they were even safe. I was suddenly snapped to the side and I could feel the color drain from my face. Bodies everywhere, along with blood. Most of their eyes were open looking at me as if I was the one who did this to them I could see fear in some of their eyes and anger in the rest. I looked around frantically looking for Y/N feeling relieved I didn't see them. Until I heard something hit the ground I was snapped in that direction and saw Y/N's body hit the ground like then rest. I watched in horror as I saw the liveliness drain from their eyes as blood pooled around them from the gaping hole where their heart should've been. Blood spilling out, there was fear and anger in the other eyes but in their's i only saw betrayal I started hyperventilating, the only thing I had to keep me sane, the only one I loved, the only one who gave a damn, the only one who stayed around. I couldn't help but start to cry and scream until I saw, myself, standing over their body holding my spear. The mask made it hard to see the expression of the other Xiao but I felt like I could tell his face was cold, just as cold as the blood Y/N layed in was. I could control my movements I dropped to my knees screaming out of grief. I hit the ground cutting my hand I summoned my weapon looking at the other me. I gritted my teeth as i charhged at him. Trying to hurt him the same way he hurt Y/N and the others. He was just as fast as me. Our spears kept hitting against each other the clinks of the metal echoing. I finally broke his guard and pierced through his stomach, blood spraying into the sky and falling down onto the already bloodstained ground. I felt a crippling pain in my stomach as well. I fell let go out my weapon falling out of the sky because of the pain. I landed on my back my head slamming against the ground my breathing shallow as I close my eyes

   I didn't feel Y/N's arms around me at all. I started to panic. 'It was a dream it was all a dream Y/N will be back any moment. They're not.....They're not...' I tried to stop thinking about it I chose to go to the balcony of Wangshuu inn and just try to keep from breaking down.

   The night was windy and cold. I sighed I still hadn't seen Y/N but I knew even if I tried I wouldn't been able to fall asleep without being in they're arms or them being in mine. Where I could protect them. Where I could keep them safe. I heard someone walking,"I knew I could find you here. I was so worried." They came and stood next to me. I stayed silent I couldn't even look at them without thinking of their face as the sparkle of their eyes died out, like an extinguished flame. "I was worried I came back to bed and you were gone." I didn't speak,"Xiao? Is everything okay with you." I reluctantly moved away from the railing and motioned Y/N to follow me which they did.

  I climbed back into bed and Y/N did too. "You want to talk about anything?" I shook my head. They sighed and turned over. I really wanted to tackle them into a hug and tell them I love them. But I felt I couldn't. Eventually I gave in I hugged them close nearly bursting into tears,"Y/N I had a nightmare you got killed and it was my fault and there were so many others and-" I felt them hug back and rub my back,"Xiao your spiraling. It was just a nightmare, I'm still here with you. I know you would never hurt me. Please just know you can talk to me." I held them closer," I know but.....it just felt like a liability. I'm supposed to be strong. Strong enough to protect you and I couldn't. I was the one who did it to you." I hid my face in their shoulder."Xiao you have nothing to worry about, nothing to be scared of darling." They ran their fingers through my hair.

   I layed contently with my head on their chest with them running their fingers through my hair whispering small "I love you's" I closed my eyes still holding them tight. I felt safe. Like I could protect them even if it was from myself. I would never let any harm come to them. Ever. They're mine and I will protect them with my life if needed. "I love you Y/N." I said in a sleepy voice,"I know, I love you too Xiao." I fell asleep soon after.
