My name is Rose Victoria Hill.

I am a normie. My father, the man who did not give me daddy issues, thank you very much! is a teacher at Nevermore Academy. Unlike some people, he actually cares about the outcasts and is always organizing events and educating the people of Jericho to bridge the gap between the two communities.

My life would have been pretty smooth had I been an only child, had my parents not thought of creating more of their DNA - my siblings, Emma and Lucas.

Don't get me wrong, I love them to bits and would die to protect them, not that they need any protecting, they are outcasts. They got the better end of the deal as they inherited the outcast gene from my mom.

Emma was blessed with Terrakinesis.

Lucas is a hydromancer.

While dad and I couldn't have been happier to have a fragment of mom living on in them, we had our concerns. Emma had begun to display her powers when she was around 9, but things had been tough for Lucas in terms of controlling his visions around water.

All of this had led me to join my dad in his research to learn as much as possible to help them and I was more than happy to be associated with the outcasts.

My dad, displaying tremendous foresight, had thought it best to prepare me for a world where my ordinariness could be a vulnerability. He had me take archery and fencing lessons and made sure that I was driving well before my peers. While I hated it, I didn't hold it against him.

The only thing I did for myself was baking, losing myself in the aroma of butter and flour combining, the excitement of opening up a pack of chocolate chips, it was bliss. Not to brag, but I made the best chocolate cupcakes in the town.

There was no way that I could have known, that day when I went to deliver cupcakes to Weathervane, that my life was never going to be normal again. Choosing to make conversation with a certain hazel - eyed boy might have been my undoing, the point where the madness all began. Of course, his eyes never gave away the impending betrayal.

I couldn't blame anyone; they had only been trying to help.
