A Second Chance

Chapter 3

Diana arrives home from the funeral of her friend Gianni Versace. The last few days have been hard, and Elton seemed to take it the hardest. At this moment all she wanted to do was take a long hot bath. One where she lights her candles and simply relaxes.

She starts her bath with her favorite bubble bath, lights her candles, and begins to strip out of her clothes. Once her tub is full she slides down into the hot water letting it instantly relax her.

The past few weeks have been very busy for her, from her birthday to her trip to St. Tropez with her boys where they spent time having fun. Then heading to Milan right after for the funeral, she is looking forward to unwinding some more.

Just as she begins to get comfortable her phone begins to ring.

"Hello."

"Hello Diana, are you busy?" Charles asks.

"No, I'm not," Diana replies sitting up.

Charles hears what sounds like water sloshing in the background.

"Diana, did I catch you at a bad time?"

"No, Charles it's fine. What can I help you with?" Diana asks

"I was just calling to see how you were, I know you went to Gianni Versace's funeral. I know he was a good friend of yours."

"I'm good Charles, thank you. Elton took it hard."

"Yes I saw the pictures from the funeral. I hope Elton will be alright."

"I'm going to give him a call tomorrow to see how he is."

"The boys were telling me how much fun they had in St. Tropez."

"It was wonderful I'm glad the boys had a nice time. Hopefully, I can take the boys away again when they go on their next holiday.

"We'll have to take a look at our diaries and work something out," Charles replies.

"Fine."

A moment of silence falls between them.

"Charles is everything ok?" Diana asks concerned.

"Yes I'm fine," Charles replies lying. He can't tell Diana he and Camilla are having issues because of her. Most importantly he can't tell Diana he called out her name while he was in bed with Camilla. It doesn't help as his dreams about her becoming more frequent. 

"Ok, you sound like something is wrong."

"No, everything is great."

"Good."

Diana turns the hot water on to heat the water a little more. Charles feels nervous if she is where he thinks she is, he knows he's going to be dreaming about her later.

"Diana are you in the kitchen?" he asks. He knows it's a dumb question but he hopes she is in the kitchen.

"No, I'm in the tub," Diana replies turning off the water.

Charles lets out an inward groan as he begins to envision Diana's body submerged in the bubbly water that stops right above her perky breasts.

"Diana, I need to go. I'll talk to you later," Charles says feeling the need to get off the phone before he embarrasses himself.

"Ok," Diana replies confused as to why Charles is acting so weird.

After hanging up from Charles, Diana resumed enjoying her peace before getting ready for bed.
