The past year had gone by so fast that the next thing they both knew their first anniversary was already approaching. Diana wanted to get Charles something sentimental and he tried to get her something unique and sentimental as well. Instead of a large party, they opted for an intimate one with just their sons, family, and close friends.

Sitting next to each other they felt the love filling the summer air as the mood was fun and jolly. They had a large table to accommodate the thirty attendees who could all sit together. Little fairy lights give enough light, yet still give an air of romance. A small band was hired to provide the music just in case someone wanted to dance.

After the final course was consumed Charles asked Diana for a dance. Everyone could agree that they never looked happier.

"I love you, Darling, this past year has been wonderful," Charles says brushing his lips against Diana's ear sending chills down her spine.

"I love you too, my handsome Prince. It has been wonderful," Diana replies smiling from ear to ear.

Next, the Queen and Prince Philip join Charles and Diana on the dance floor, before all the other couples in attendance join.

The celebrated couple dances a little while longer before everyone begins to present their toasts and gifts to them.

Charles is the last to stand and picks up his glass. Looking down at his wife his eyes filled with happiness and love he begins his toast...

"I would like to thank everyone here tonight to celebrate me and the love of my life. I know it has not always been easy my darling, but I'm glad you gave me a second chance at loving you. I only want to make you happy and to be not only the best husband I can be to you...but the best father I can be to our sons. Wills, Harry... I thank you for always being the best part of our marriage, and for always supporting your mother and me through the good times and the bad times. To my family," Charles says raising his glass.

"To family!" Everyone chimes in.

Later that night after kissing their sons' goodnight; Diana and Charles retire to the living room. Diana sits down with her glass of water and Charles sits with his glass of brandy.

"I had a wonderful time tonight," Diana replies interrupting the silence that fell between them.

"Me too. I'm glad our families were able to join us tonight," Charles agrees.

"Yes, it was lovely."

Diana rests her head on Charles's shoulder and he wraps his arms around her pulling her closer.

"Charles," Diana says interrupting the silence again.

"Yes."

"I'm so happy we're together again. I pray we always stay this way, work out any problems we face, and always communicate. Let love lead the way."

"I agree my love. No matter what work together on everything together."

Diana smiles as a tear rolls down her cheek. Charles reaches over and wipes the tear away before gently kissing her lips.

"I love you, Diana."

"I love you too Charles."

They share a passionate kiss before they head off to their bedroom.

Charles looks down at Diana who is lying in his arms.

"You know darling, I saw a quote the other day that made me think about us."

"Oh?"

It said, "Maybe sometimes love needs a second chance because it wasn't ready the first time around.* Thank you my darling for giving me a second chance to get it right."

"You're welcome my love," Diana replies with a smile.
