Aonung's POV:

I watched as Neteyam's body fell into the pool of water.

"Neteyam!" I yelled out, jumping in after him.

I quickly grabbed him and began to swim over to Roxto.

"What happened?" Rotxo asked, a distressed look on his face.

"I don't know, he just fainted!" I said, panicking.

I called over my Ilu and carfulley heaved Neteyam on.

"Roxto, can you grab the fish? I'll take Neteyam back" I said, a worried look camping on my face.

Rotxo nodded as I quickly rode away.

"Don't die on me Neteyam" I quietly said to myself, quickly riding back to the village.

Once we reached the village, the first people I could see on the beach were Lo'ak and Tsireya.

"Help!" I called out, waving my hands in the air.

Lo'ak and Tsireya quickly rushed up to us, helping me off the Ilu.

I slowly took Neteyam down from the Ilu and began to run towards our hut.

Lo'ak and Tsireya followed close behind.

Once we reached our hut, I saw mother and father talking.

I held Neteyam in my arms, tears beginning to drip down my cheeks.

As mother turned her head to face us, her smiled instantly dropped.

"Mother, I know what I did was wrong. But please, help Neteyam." I said in a low voice, trying my hardest to holding eye contact.

I dropped to the ground, holding Neteyam close to me.

"Please, save him" I said, looking up at them.

My mother nodded, taking him out of my arms.

Then, she walked out of the room with my father.

I sat there, thinking of what could happen to Neteyam.

Suddenly, I felt Tsireya's warm hands on my back.

"He'll be fine. He's strong" She said.

I could tell she was holding back her tears.

I looked over to her, tears still dripping down my face.

"But what if he doesn't make it?" I asked, my voice breaking.

"He will" She replied, bringing me into a soft hug.

"He has to"

(The next morning)

Aonung's POV:

I woke up to Tsireya and Lo'ak next to me.

I was on the beach.

Weird, I don't remember falling asleep on the beach.

I got up, stretching and yawning.

I felt tired, like I had been crying.

'But why would I be crying?' I thought to myself, walking down the beach.

Suddenly, I saw my mother and father.

They were walking in my direction.

Before I could turn around and walk the other way, my mother grabbed me by the wrist.

"Aonung. We need to talk" She said, forcing me to face her.

"About what?" I asked, ripping my arm back.

"About Neteyam" She said, glaring at me.

Suddenly, I remembered what happened last night.

Everything came flooding back.

I pushed my mother out of the way and began to run to our hut.

'Fuck, Neteyam, please be alive'  I thought to myself as I sprinted inside.

Upon entering my parents hut, I saw Neteyam lying peacefully.

I was panting like crazy, but my heart began to slow down when I saw him.

Alive...

He had bandages wrapped around his side and arms.

It brought me to tears seeing him in this condition.

I sat down next to him, grabbing his hand and gently holding it.

"It's okay Neteyam, I'm here for you" I said as my tears slowly dripped down my chin.

I sat there, staring at him for a while before my parents barged in.

"Aonung!" My mother shouted before hesitating.

She stood there, watching me curl up and hug Neteyam.

"Please be okay Neteyam" I whispered, tears still dripping down my wet face.

I put my arm over his stomach, crying into his shoulder.

My mother walked up to me, putting a hand on my shoulder.

At first, I thought she was going to drag me away, or tell me off.

But instead she just rested her hand on my shoulder, attempting to comfort me.

She kissed me lightly on the head, standing up and leaving the room.

I pulled Neteyam in, kissing his cold cheek.

"I won't let them hurt you. I promise" I said, falling asleep next to him.

---Chapter 21 end----

Okay, it won't be THAT sad but, still a little angsty.
