Seeing Mirae again came with a sense of guilt and relief. He felt as if he didn't really need to hide from her any longer, but of course he worries about the confrontation of what has happened in the past.
She sat on the bed at the emergency room as the doctors patched her up, sending him a glare every few seconds. A weird sense of nostalgia bubbling within him. He leaned against the wall in her university jumper, giving her a mocking smile each time she looks at him. He couldn't help but feel like a normal college student for a moment. As if he was assisting his roommate to the hospital after he explicitly told them not to drink too much. But of course that wasn't the reality.
"It's not major, but you did loose quite a bit of blood. Just make sure to change your bandages and avoid putting pressure on it. It should be completely healed in about two weeks." The doctor informed as she wrote on a piece of paper. "I'll just prescribe you some pain killers and you're all set!" She handed Mirae the piece of paper before giving them both a bow, in which they both returned. "Let me know if anything changes."
"Thank you." Mirae smiled as the doctor left. There was a bandage on the back of her head, which was now covered with the rest of her hair. Even though they had to shave some out off for the bandage to stick, it was barely noticeable. She put his cap back on her head, turning her attention to Jisung. Her hair was a lot longer than when they had last seen each other. It was layered, which was beginning to be a Mirae signature. She looked more mature than before, and a lot more intimidating as well.
"Go pay for it." She commanded expectantly as Jisung nodded with his hands in the pockets of her jersey. "I'll go get my meds."
She did get hurt trying to save him, and a part of Jisung was very mad at himself for it, but the other part of him was awfully touched. Either way, it was only right that he payed for her.
"Here." He said, passing the lady at the counter the required amount. She had a small look of surprise as she accepted the cash amount. "Sorry, I don't have my card on me today."
"That's no problem." She cashed it, printing out a receipt. He knew that this transaction wouldn't look good on his account if he had used his card. She handed the receipt to him as he thanked her.
They had agreed to meet back at the waiting room when they were done, but there had been no sign of Mirae yet. Catching sight of a nearby vending machine, Jisung decided that now was a good time for a can of coffee. He slid in a coin, pressing on the beeping buttons before his can dropped. He stuck his hand into the slot at the bottom, only to find two cans of coffee in it.
"Oh sorry, one of those are mine. I forgot I had bought it and went back to my bed." A voice said from behind him. Jisung turned to see a boy around his age in crutches, his face badly bruised and scarred. Looking down at the drink in hand, Jisung passed it to him as the boy's blood stained lips smiled, an oddly familiar smile. "Do you go to Kyunghee?"
