Verena woke up from her sleep because she saw a candle light dazzling her eyes. She saw Thranduil still at the table reading some documents
"Thranduil" she called
Thranduil turned his head and saw Verena awake, he was shocked "oh sorry. Did I wake you? I wanted to continue all this in the studyroom, but I'm starting to get tired, so I'll finish this in here, and go straight to bed after that" he explained
Verena got up from the bed and came to him, she hugged Thranduil's shoulders "can't you continue tomorrow?" She asked
Thranduil took one of Verena's hands and kissed it gently "it's almost done, only need a little time" he answered
Verena then hugged Thranduil tightly " well since there is only a little left, you can finish it tomorrow. I will help you, now come back to bed and sleep with me" she said
Thranduil smiled at her "alright, I'll put all this away, change my clothes, and we can sleep together"
Thranduil tidied up his desk, he then took his nightgown from the cupboard and changed. After changing, he climbed onto the bed and hugged Verena tightly
"I'm tired Verena" he whispered softly
"I will help you tomorrow, just tell me what to do" Verena said
"You've helped a lot, I don't want you to get too tired."
"Nonsense" Verena then laughed, she said "that's what I am for as the queen. I don't want to be that queen who just sits, being beautiful, and watches her king get tired alone. Share your burden with me, my love. And I will accept it happily"
Thranduil hugged Verena tightly "you are perfect. I am lucky to have you"
Thranduil rested his chin on Verena's head. And he stroked Verena's back gently. That night they slept peacefully, even though it was raining heavily outside and lightning was striking
