Thranduil walked through a barren field filled with corpses of various races. Noldorian elves, Greenwood Elves, and Men.

At that time there was heavy rain, Thranduil continued to walk forward, not wanting to look at the corpses piled up in front of him.

He continued walking not knowing where or what his destination was, until he saw someone he knew lying on the ground with his body covered in wounds.

Thranduil ran to the figure, he sat down limply "Adar...." He called, his voice breaking "Adar...." He called once more but there was still no answer.

Thranduil saw his father's head covered in blood, wounds all over his body, and a broken nose "Adar... Why is this? Where have you been all this time, I tried looking for you but couldn't find you. Why did you let me go home without you" he sobbed uncontrollably

"Thranduil" a woman's voice called him

"Thranduil" the voice grew louder

"THRANDUIL!" Verena shouted

Thranduil woke up from his dream, sweats dripping down his face

"Thranduil, are you alright?" Verena asked, worried

Thranduil looked at Verena in confusion, he then rubbed Verena's head gently "I'm sorry, I must have disturbed your sleep" he said softly, although you still can hear trembling in his voice

Verena held Thranduil's hand "no. You never bothered me" Verena helped Thranduil lie down again

"was it a nightmare"

"Hmn" he nodded

"About your father?"

Thranduil nodded again

"What's bothering you, my love?" Verena said softly

Thranduil looked at her with teary eyes "I still can't let him go, Verena. Seeing him fall among so many troops, and I couldn't find his body. I looked for him in the pile of corpses for seven days, and I found nothing. Where is he? Where's his corpse? I didn't even see a single hair" his voice started to shake, his eyes started to shed tears

Verena hugged Thranduil's head "I know you loved him very much, and losing him was the hardest thing for you. But know this, Thranduil. The body in Dagorlad is an empty shell. Your father are fine and healthy in Valinor with others under the protection of the valar. And when the time comes  we'll go there and you can see him again"

Thranduil sobbed in Verena's arms "maybe you will think I'm a weak."

"No. Never. You are the strongest person I have ever known. Not everyone can handle a burden this heavy."

Thranduil tightened his arms around Verena's waist "I'm lucky to have you" "And I'm lucky to be yours" Verena replied
