"I need your help."

I raise my head to meet Hanbee.

"Hmm?" I tilt my head to the side; my eyes are still half closed.

I was so tired from this week. We worked so much on that operation that I hadn't had any sleep.

"Tomorrow... is senpai's birthday" Hanbee put a hand on his chest, looking away. He took a deep breath in.

"I know we are having some demanding times... but we must... cherish these moments. Could you give me a hand with the food? I would appreciate that."

He bowed dramatically, and his hand was still placed on his chest.

"Of course," I answer with a small smile.

He raised up quickly, thanking me.

"Birthday, huh? How old is he?"

Come to think of it... Shinohara told me we were the same age.

Which means...

"23," Hanbee replied boldly.

"So, what are you planning?" I asked, crossing my hands.

"Each year, I cook dinner with all Senpai's favorite meals... but tomorrow we have a lot of meetings, and I need to escort him as his right hand. There is so much going on with this operation that I don't think I will have any time." He frowned, narrowing his eyes.

"I know you have a lot of work yourself, but if you could come to our place tomorrow and help me out... I would be... delighted..."

I put a hand on my chin.

"Well, I could work on these things while cooking..." I think out loud. Hanbee's eyes light up.

"Yes? If it's too much of a burden, feel free to object, Y/n san!" Hanbee exclaimed.

"I'll be alright."

A few minutes after the guys left their apartment, I sneaked in. The hour was still early, but I knew I had much to do.

I started with Wagashi, typically made from mochi (glutinous rice cake), anko (sweet bean paste), and various flavors such as green tea, cherry blossom, or citrus. Afterward, I made some Taiyaki (fish-shaped cake filled with sweet red bean paste).

While cooking, I sat down and worked on my computer.

As an investigator, I had an excellent multi-tasking ability that guided me throughout the day.

I made Kuzumochi, Okonomiyaki, Yakitori, and a beautiful cream cake.

While drying some plates, I searched for some files on my computer. They were connected to the case with the owl, and I wanted to see how various investigators acted during the ambush.

While reading the files, I suddenly come across a picture.

The plate falls down and shutters between my legs, cutting me. My eyes widened as I looked at this photo; I felt as if I had been transported to a different world, one where only sorrow exists.

There was a picture of us before the operation. I never came across it.

Shinohara...Amon... Neco...Willow...Sediou...

Juuzou was with his fluffy white hair, a stupid smile as he looked at Shinohara with Joy. Shinohara looked at the camera; his face looks... calm.

Neco and Willow smile.

As I sat there, lost in my thoughts, I couldn't help but wonder why.

Why didn't I appreciate those moments... I was so enraged back then...
