A soft knock was heard on Haise's door.
"They are here! Behave yourself!"
The door opened, and Haise greeted the trio with a smile and a bow.
"Good evening! Thank you so much for coming!" He excitedly remarked, helping his guests with their coats.
"Thank you for having us, Haise san~~" Juuzou replied gratefully.
When Y/n took down her scarf, the scar pulled some unwanted staring.
"Y/n..." Haise whispered, so only she could hear, "I never noticed it."
She did hide it with some turtle-neck sweaters for a couple of months, but outside work, she was used to being with Juuzou all the time, who never raised this unnecessary topic.
"Battle scars. We all have them," She answered peacefully with a smile, handing him the bag with the cake.
She turned to meet the new faces.
"Alright! So meet the first and only qunix squad! This is Ginshi Shirazu, Tooru Mutsuki, Saiko Yonebayashi, and Kuki Urie." Haise announced joyfully.
"It's an honor to meet you!" Shirazu, Tooru, and Saiko bowed. Urie gave a hand wave.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all! I am Suzuya Juuzou, and this is Hanbee and Y/n chan ~" He introduced.
When all the members headed to the long table, Juuzou rested his hand on Y/n's lower back, receiving a confused look from her. He responded with a bright and cheerful smile.
"Everything looks great, Sasaki san. Thank you." Hanbee thanked Haise.
"It's my pleasure. Thank you for having the time; I'm sure it's a busy week..." Haise scratched his head.
"So how is the Torso case~? Are you getting any closer?" Juuzou asked, filling his plate with some food. Hanbee then filled that plate himself, putting it down gracefully in front of his mentor.
"The Torso case? I thought you caught him already," Y/n questioned.
"We didn't really manage... there was a little mess after that explosion."
"Is it true that you fight the OWL?" The girl named Saiko asked out of nowhere, staring at Juuzou with amusement in her eyes.
"Saiko chan!" Haise scolded.
"It's okay~ I was fighting in the front lines with my mentor, but the owl wasn't alone, so it was a very tough fight. Luckily for me, Y/n chan came to the rescue!" He sends a generous smile to the girl.
"Really?! Was it another owl?" Shirazu asked.
"It was the one-eyed ghoul, SSS-rated." Y/n responded.
"Wow. That must have been a hell of a fight" Shirazu looked at Haise.
"A one-eyed ghoul? Is it possible?" Tooru asked, looking worried.
"Yes... A ghoul and a human giving birth... or the artificial way." Y/n explained, feeling something weird in her stomach.
He's here...
"Artificial way?" Saiko asked.
"Well, like you guys!" Juuzou smiled.
Haise moved uncomfortably in his chair as if a painful memory floated.
Y/n was the only one to notice, and it made the voices grow a bit louder.
He will lose control soon!
