Did It Even Happen?

I had shown Eddie around the manor, he couldn't believe how big it was. His favourite room was the library, typical Ravenclaw. Now we were hanging out in the tapestry room on the big sofa, he had asked me why I wasn't on it so I was explaining what had happened with my father and grandmother when Dobby came in. "Miss Black, Dobby has a letter for you miss."

"Ohh, thank you Dobby." He handed me the letter and left the room. I got up to go and leave it in my drawer in my room. "I'll be right back Eddie, I'm just going to put this in my room and read it later." As I turned away from him, he grabbed my other wrist.

"Open it now."

"I don't want to, I want to spend time with you." I was trying to free myself from his grasp.

"Who is it from?" He asked looking me dead in the eye.

"I don't know, I haven't opened it."

"Open it." He wasn't asking me anymore, he was telling me.

I opened the letter and knew that this wasn't going to go down well. "It's from Fred."

"Why is he sending you letters?"

I was trying to skim over the letter to find anything I could tell Eddie. Thankfully it was just about what the boys got up to on Christmas day and then him asking how my time at home had been.

"He's just telling me about what the boys got up to on Christmas day."

"Why is he telling you that?" He was squeezing my wrist harder than ever.

"Eddie you're hurting me." He let go. I quickly left the room to go to my room with the letter.

I put the letter in my desk drawer. I didn't want to go back down to Eddie. I wanted him to leave. I couldn't ask him to go though, Narcissa was getting Dobby too make a grand dinner for him, and if he left I would be questioned about it and I couldn't tell her the truth.

I was feeling light headed again, why does this keep happening? I sat on my bed for a moment, I lay back and stared at the ceiling. What do I do when I go back down? Do I confront him? Do I ignore what happened? I looked at my bedside clock. One hour until dinner. Maybe I make Draco hang out with us. Maybe this would be a better time to introduce him to Lucius.

As I walked back to the tapestry room I decided to just ignore what happened and go back to talking about the family tapestry. When I got back to the room he seemed to do the same thing. It was as if nothing even happened.

Narcissa came and got us for dinner. Everyone sat in their usual seat and an extra setting had been placed beside mine for Eddie. Throughout dinner Lucius was questioning Eddie about his family, questions only a pure blood obsessed wizard would ask. Eddie didn't seem fazed at all though, he seemed to be loving the fact that Lucius was interested in him.

Thankfully dinner went well and it was time for Eddie to go. He said goodbye and thanked Lucius and Narcissa for having him. I walked him to the door, we kissed and said goodbye. I watched as he walked down the steps and towards the gates where a lady was waiting for him, I'm assuming it was his mother, although I found it strange that she didn't come up to the door to get him. In a quick blink they were gone.

I turned to go upstairs to my room but was immediately stopped by Lucius. "Come, Melissa." He walked towards his office and I followed.

He sat in his big grand black leather chair behind his desk and I sat in one of the smaller, yet still grand, ones in front of the desk.

"Eddie seems to be a nice boy. However, I'm not sure he's best fit for the family."

"Okay?"

"You will not marry him in the future." He said firmly.
