"So when were you going to tell me that you were a Vampire?" Danah brings up to her best friend who sat across from her hospital bed, apologetically.
This was the first thing Danah said when she woke up from passing out.
A couple hours after the whole incident, Danah was sent to the Vampire hospital by Minji. The seven boys, however, continued to scout in search for Rose. Therefore, she hasn't seen Jungwon yet which bugged her to the point she had to distract herself by confronting Minji.
"I really wanted to, believe me. But I just couldn't. I didn't want you to be scared of me," Minji slowly mutters out.
"Minji," Danah exhales out a breath that was unconsciously held in. "I love you. You know that. Ever since we were 6 years old. Why would you doubt my loyalty to you?" This put her to silence.
Danah had only processed a few minutes ago that her best friend of God knows how long had been lying to her for all the years they've known each other.
She couldn't help but feel betrayed and like an idiot. She couldn't believe that she never saw it, how could she? Minji hid it too well. It made her wonder what else she hid from her.
Heck, Minji would even side with Danah whenever she would question or deny the existence of Vampires, so all that lead to this? Now, Minji was in front of her with a guilt-ridden expression.
Danah was still woozy but more sane than earlier. Minji was glad Danah was handling this maturely.
"So," Danah awkwardly continues. "I'm assuming that whenever we snuck out for Vampire of the Night each year, no one attacked us during our little outings because you were there."
Minji gulps, slowly nodding. "I've always protected you, Danah. Even from the shadows. How? I always left my scent on you. This is why you were always safe from stray Vampires."
Danah looks Minji in the eyes and saw a genuine but burdened expression.
This made Danah wonder if Minji's protection faltered recently. Heck, she'd been attacked a couple times... even kidnapped. She wanted to ask Minji why she suddenly had been having ordeals with Vampires, but she decided against for now.
Instead, Danah tries to lighten the situation. "You were so dead set on your act that you even bought Vampire repellent with me, Wonyoung, and Sullyoon," Danah points out with a smile.
Minji's guard falls at this, muscles losing their tension. She was relieved that the seriousness was faltering. "I hate who I am. My parents do too. They want to disassociate with their own identity as well."
Danah wanted to ask as to why that is, but she notices Minji wincing at the thought. She tries to change the topic. "You should fill me in on your beef with Jungwon," she chuckles, finally letting loose and laying against her hospital bed.
