"I HATE PAPERWORK" I groaned as I threw a paper ball and hit Spencer right in the middle of the forehead.
"Really? I wouldn't have guessed from the eight times you've said that today." Spencer said as he threw the paper ball back, hitting me right in the nose. I couldn't help but laugh.
We got back from the case five days ago, but since we were gone so long the paperwork had piled up on everyone's desk. I haven't left the BAU earlier than 9 pm most nights and am still only halfway done.
Although, there is a silver lining in all of this. I could bury myself in work and not think about Emily, and the fact that we still hadn't talked. Actually, Emily hasn't talked to anyone. She's been locked in her office all day and I can't tell if she's actually busy or avoiding me.
What if this is her way of telling me that she regrets it? What if this was her way of telling me she was just caught up in the moment and it didn't mean anything to her? What if-
"I brought coffee!" JJ said pulling me out of my thoughts as she put an iced coffee on my desk.
"You're an actual saint Jennifer Jareau!" I called after her as she sat at her desk across from me.
"Flattery won't get me to do your paperwork, Y/n," JJ said with a laugh.
"It was worth a shot." I groaned as I turned my attention back to the stacks of paper on my desk.
Hours went by and one by one every starting filing out until it was just Spencer and I. My concentration was shot so I had been tapping my pen against my desk as I watched Emily's office window, secretly hoping she would open the blinds so I could see her. God, I am pathetic.
"Y/n, if you tap that pen one more time I am actually going to take it from you," Spencer said with a groan.
"Sorry," I said quietly as I immediately put the pen down. I could feel his concerned gaze on me.
"Are you okay?" He asked immediately.
"I'm fine Spence."
"Are you sure? It's never taken you longer than an hour and thirty-seven minutes to finish a case file and you've been working on that one for almost two hours and thirteen minutes." Spencer said as he put his pen down and leaned closer to me.
I groaned as I laid my head on the desk. "I hate profilers."
I heard Spencer laugh and I knew I had to tell him something or else he would never stop pestering me. "My mom's coming to see me in a couple of months," I said pulling my face off the desk. There was truth in my statement, I was worried about seeing my mom. Although the real reason I was so stressed had barely anything to do with my mom and everything to do with Emily.
"Oh, Oh," Spencer said quietly.
"Yeah, I'm kind of stressed about it, that's all," I said in return. Spencer looked at me skeptically.
"There's something else you're not telling me." He said raising his eyebrows. I glared at him.
"No there isn't!"
"Y/n, did you forget that I taught you how to profile people." He said with a small laugh and I threw my pen at him which he surprisingly caught.
"Look Spence, it's sweet that you care, but I'm fine I swear," I said seriously.
"And you would tell me if you weren't." He said slowly.
"Yes, I promise," I said with a small smile and Reid seemed to be satisfied by my answer.
