"I can't believe you didn't tell me she was here," Gojo said as he followed you outside. "This would've been such a perfect opportunity."You didn't say anything in reply, your thoughts swirling as you tried to mentally sort out your questions.
"Fuck, I didn't know she was still stopping by. Was she coming by to see me? What did she say? Does she miss me? Does she want to get back together?"
The questions were hitting the same nerve over and over again, so just to get him to shut up, you said, "She was dropping off your things."
Gojo went completely silent then, and you wanted to look back to see whether or not he was actually disappointed. You didn't, however, and just continued your walk down until you reached an empty classroom far enough so no one would hear you. You heard Gojo closed the door behind you as you went by the back window of the classroom, leaning against the wall there.
Finally looking over at Gojo, you noticed his cautious and weirded-out gaze as he watched you. "What's happening? What did you need to talk about?"
You hesitated for a moment. You were essentially about to ask Gojo if he even loved the girl he was trying so hard to get back.
Clearing your throat, you straightened yourself up a bit before looking him dead in the eyes and asking, "What is Haruka to you?"
Gojo's eyes narrowed in confusion, and he stepped toward you, slowly. "What. . . What do you mean?"
You weren't scared of Gojo. You weren't afraid of offending him or him getting angry with you. He didn't get angry often, but when he did it was a big deal. But you had dealt with him for years, and his anger didn't scare you.
That being said, you weren't exactly sure if he was angry or not as he continued to slow walk toward you, head just slightly tilted as he asked the question again. "What do you mean?"
You were definitely dancing on the line. If he truly did love her, then you wouldn't be surprised if he was pissed off.
He stopped in front of you, barely a ruler's length away, and you only just noticed how much the guy towered over you. In a low voice, he said, "(Y/N). . ." you felt the goosebumps rise on your skin as he said your name, ". . . What do you mean?"
Taking a deep breath in, you didn't back down as you glared up at him. "Haruka didn't feel very loved in the relationship."
You couldn't see Gojo's eyes, his bandana being in the way. But you could feel it. The heartbreak and the despair and the confusion all rolled into one.
You realised how you worded things. "That's not what she said specifically, I phrased that wrong. It's just. . ." Having seen Gojo's genuine reaction to what you just told him, you needed to say these next words carefully. "Gojo, she told me that she felt like. . . Like an accessory? She said that you weren't around much, and she understood that you were busy. But her main point was that even when you were home, you weren't 'present', as she put it. And the only time you were was when you guys would go out in public. Like she was something to be shown off."
You watched him as he stared just past you, lost in his own thoughts. The corners of his mouth turned down. He looked back at you, opening his mouth like he wanted to say something. Finally, after some perplexed noises leaving his lips, he said quietly, "But I was around her so much at home."
Okay. Now you had two contradicting stories. Usually this wouldn't be any of your business. But given that Gojo had dragged you into this whole arrangement in the first place, you had no choice but to figure out what was going on.
