You never got around to talking to Gojo.

Not for a whole week.

Literally zero talking. Absolutely none. He'd avoid you like the plague, and when you asked Nanami or Itadori or ANYONE about it, no one could give a response.

Sometimes the difference between could and would was obvious. Nanami wouldn't give a response. Meaning: he knew something. And you were going to figure out what.

Now, hiding behind Nanami's car was your best plan of action. You didn't necessarily want to go through all the trouble of ambushing him at his home. And plus, Nanami parked in a secluded-enough spot for you to chat privately.

"Hello, (Y/N)," was what Nanami said when he approached his car, so clearly you weren't that great at hiding.

You stood up, placing your hands on your hips like a strict mother and demanding, "Tell me why Gojo is ignoring me."

Nanami sighed, looking at you dead on. "I can't tell you that."

He didn't bother asking you why you knew Gojo spoke to him. He'd assumed you'd known, and was just waiting for you to finally approach him about it.

"Nanami, please," you said, looking at him desperately. "He seemed really frazzled last week and hasn't spoken a word to me as to why. He's been making full 180 turns and walking in the other direction. In his own home. I don't know what's happening, whether this arrangement is still happening. I don't even know if we're still going to this charity event, which if we are, I need him to practice this dance! Nanami, I am begging you. Even just a little hint. I'll work my way from there."

It didn't convince him. "I'm sorry, (Y/N), it's not my place to say. Unfortunately, if Gojo is not ready to speak to you, there's nothing that can be done."

Mission failed. Nanami was obviously sworn to secrecy, and unfortunately for you, he wasn't going to break that promise anytime soon.

You huffed out in annoyance. You were just asking why Gojo was avoiding you. Obviously it was something you did, because if it were about Haruka, there would be no reason to keep it a secret from you.

Rubbing a hand over your exasperated face, you mumble out, "I just don't understand what I've done."

You had tried going over that moment in which he fled from you over and over again, and you could not figure out what was happening for the life of you. Not once had he ever had that reaction with you when he was upset. You must've really done something bad.

BUT WHAT DID YOU DO—

You sighed, nodding your head at Nanami. You weren't going to pester him any further. "Okay. Thanks anyway, Nanami."

"Hey," he said,  just as you were walking away. You stopped and turned to him again. "I think the only way to get him to speak to you is to surprise him. Give him a nice surprise and put him in a good enough mood and try to speak to him. As much as you don't like him, this is pretty much the only way."

You shook your head at him, shrugging your shoulders in defeat. "I haven't got the slightest idea on how to surprise him."

Nanami walked to the driver's side of his car, unlocking the door. With one last glance at you, he said, "You're his partner, fake or not. You have to know."

"Well that's not fair," you said, crossing your arms grumpily.

Nanami showed a small smile, and said, "That's probably as fair as it's going to get."
