You had decided to take the day off. You needed time to calm down and wrap your head around everything.
Your house had gotten dusty due to your absence, and so the first thing you had willed yourself to do was clean. Vacuum, mop, scrub everything, including things that didn't need scrubbing.
During all of this, your phone had been ringing. It was mainly Gojo, but you had the occasional missed calls from your students. Especially from Itadori. At some point, he had called you nonstop for ten minutes straight. And as much as you had wanted to answer him and let him know you were okay, you needed a total disconnect from everyone and everything. You sent a brief text to him confirming you were alright, anyway. Cue a twenty-message reply. You hadn't read them, just put your phone down and went back to your business.
The day was almost over when you had decided to get up and go for a walk. You were cooped up at home and the limited space was driving you nuts. This didn't happen often at Gojo's place, it being so big that it didn't feel like the walls were squeezing you in. You frowned at that thought, shaking it from your head as you put your shoes on. Once you were sure you had your things, you unlocked the front door and swung it open.
You froze, jaw dropping just slightly at the sight before you. "Uh. . ."
There was Gojo, a bouquet of flowers held in both hands in front of him as he stood nervously, shoulders tensed. He was dressed in a white button up, black trousers and a black blazer (one he was actually wearing this time) to match. The first three buttons of his white shirt were undone, revealing a hint of black ink by his collarbone. It wasn't enough that you could take a guess what it could be, but you were shocked nonetheless that he had a tattoo.
His hair was just the tiniest bit shorter too. He had gone to get his hair trimmed, and based on the smell of salon shampoo and conditioner and numerous other hair products, he had only just gotten it done before going to see you.
He didn't have his sunglasses or bandana on. They were nowhere to be seen; not in his hands or in the collar of his shirt or in his blazer pocket. As a matter of fact, he had a couple of blue hydrangeas in his pocket instead.
You looked at the flower arrangement in Gojo's hands; the red roses and white and pink carnations and blue hydrangeas mixed in with a couple more flowers you didn't know the names of, but were stunning nonetheless. It was an odd arrangement, something an aesthetically-focused florist wouldn't typically put together. There was a gold ribbon wrapped around it, tied to the left as it was facing you.
Gojo took a nervous breath in, and you gazed back at up at him, bag still on your shoulder and keys in hand. Nothing came out for a moment, and you were wondering if he was just going to stand there and block you in. As your eyes shifted to the side awkwardly, you noticed the storm clouds brewing in the sky, thunder sounding off in the distance. But finally, he said in a gentle tone, "I feel like these are long overdue."
You couldn't contain the small smile that crept to your face, shrugging a shoulder as you whispered softly, "A little bit."
He held the flowers out to you, and you gently took them off him, hand grazing his for a moment. Sparks shot up your arm at the action, but you ignored it, gently holding the bouquet in your arms. He hadn't stopped looking at you, gentle eyes filled with remorse. "I'd like to. . . I want to apologise."
Your gaze shifted downward as you smiled softly, shaking your head. "Gojo, it's okay. It's fine."
"That wasn't my apology, and no it's not," he said, his voice now steady as he looked directly at you. "(Y/N), it doesn't matter how heated things get, I should've never said something like that to you. Nothing excuses my behaviour toward you that day. I shouldn't have unleashed all my stress and feelings out onto you like that; it should've been toward the actual problem, not you. I was hurt and took it out on you and wanted to hurt you for some reason, which is not okay, especially given the fact that what I said about you was a lie. I was a complete asshole and was super unfair to you, and I am so sorry."
