You were right in the middle of sipping your drink when your phone buzzed on the table. You picked it up, looking at the message that appeared on your screen.
Toast For Brains
what the actual hell
You smiled, watching the small three dots fade in and out in delight. Megumi looked from Itadori's phone over to yours, the straw of his cold brew remaining in his mouth as he watched silently with you.
Toast for Brains
do you have any idea how much that cost?
You and Megumi gave each other a look that conveyed a very confused 'huh?'. Your fingers tapped the screen lightly as you replied to Gojo's message.
Ain't you rich or something?
Toast for Brains
so not the point
Please. Arrive at the point. I'm about to take the kids to the festival.
You were kind of joking, but as you sent the message, you half-wondered about the idea. You looked over at Megumi questionably, silently asking his thoughts on it. His straw was still in his mouth as his eyes flicked over to you, and he just shrugged his shoulders. You turned to face Nobara and Itadori and asked, "Do you guys want to go to the festival?"
"Does the back of Itadori's head look like a Truffula tree?" Nobara asked, a huge excited grin on her face as she ignored Itadori's frown.
Megumi's drink sprayed out of his nose when he glanced at Itadori, and he coughed hard as he turned away, hunched over. You clapped your hands together, standing up. "Well let's do it!"
"Wait, you're being serious?" Itadori's brightness could combat that of the sun's, and you winked cheekily at him, not saying anything else. Itadori giddily jumped up and down before he noisily snatched his things from the table and zoomed down the street, turning a corner and leaving your sight completely.
Blinking, you turned to the other two first-years, slowly pointing a thumb in his direction. "Care to do what he's doing?"
"I'm gonna need more coffee in my system to reach that level," Megumi mumbled, slowly standing up and taking his drink.
"I think you inhaled enough coffee for all of us," Nobara snorted, earning a grumpy glare from her friend.
"I'll meet you guys there," you chuckled. "Don't worry about class. It's a Friday, for god's sake, we're going to the festival now."
"But we have class with Gojo-sensei," Nobara tilted her head at you.
"Then maybe he should've been more focused on you guys rather than his girlfriend."
Nobara cackled evilly before picking up her bag and speeding off in the opposite direction Itadori went, Megumi going in the same direction at a much, much slower pace. You smiled, feeling your heart beat fast in excitement before turning to the direction of your own house.
You stopped in your tracks, your smile falling as your heart faltered. The clothes you wanted to wear to the festival were still at Gojo's place. You'd have to go there instead. Taking a deep breath, you turned in the opposite direction, only to jump out of your skin as Megumi stood there, staring at you. Taking a deep breath and trying to calm your pounding heart, you smiled, "Hey, are you alrigh—"
