SPOILERS FINISH THE MAIN STORY BEFORE READING THIS
ok guys so i suddenly had a ✨spark of inspiration that told me i had to make a clarification about the loop 'machine' (idek LMAO you think i know what im writing??)
so..
1. why?
the reason rui made this machine is because for a long time y/n's rehab did not make any progression at all and her initial enthusiasm was wearing off
he desperately wanted y/n to get better but knowing that couldn't happen with the way things were he created a machine (like cmon he made a time machine in puchiseka he can do that here) that allows y/n to live a life with all of the things he believed she deserved to experience:
-being smart (or kinda LOL)
-having friends (a few real ones aka mizuki)
-being in school and living a normal life
-having a mom who cares (he was vague with this one bc broski idk about having the mom care so much...)
-no worries
-self inserting himself into the machine to make him feel better about life LMAO like me too bro
second last one is vague, because everything here ended on 17th July, when Y/N from a lack of sleep dies in a car crash
anyway she doesn't actually die and rui protects her before that can happen and as the creator of the world, when he 'dies' he returns to the real world and in a panic he attempts a forced reset which resulted in the buggy time loop
so y/n repeated 16th july over and over, and at first he was confused too but eventually he just started going with it bc he was like 'wow this isn't bad like seeing my bestie who i almost killed in an accident being stupid?? yeah sign ME UP'
then the kidnappers randomly appeared and the loop resetted whenever one of them died right, so he figured that it was because she kept dying and was like
"ok challenge: don't fucking die and i'll let u out" (impossible??)
but she kept dying until the world came to an end from the constant restarts
so they returned to the real world...
2. where is the machine
how tf im supposed to know?? u think im god or smth i just write stories..
Or maybe, it still lurks in the shadows, awaiting a day it can once again drag a person into a world shattered by '16th July'.
