Xu Zheng awoke with the sun, his mind already racing with the tasks ahead. He moved quietly, not wanting to disturb his sleeping family. He made his way to the kitchen, checking their supplies and making sure everything was in order.

He carefully wrapped the remaining mushrooms in a piece of paper, placing them in a basket alongside the other vegetables. Then, he turned to the rabbits, cleaning them and placing them in a separate bamboo basket with a tight-fitting lid.

He carried the baskets to the table, setting them down before returning to the room he shared with Huang Feng. He removed the plank, retrieving the money he had saved, and placed it in an old, worn-out money pouch.

Turning to Huang Feng, he gently shook his shoulder, "Feng, wake up."

Huang Feng stirred, letting out a yawn as he opened his eyes. Xu Zheng couldn't help but find the sight endearing, feeling a warmth spread through his chest.

"I'll be waking up the children if you need me," he muttered, a slight blush on his cheeks.

Huang Feng nodded, still not fully awake, and Xu Zheng excused himself, closing the door behind him.

He walked to the children's room, opening the door to find his a-bà already awake and helping the children rise as well. He greeted him with a warm "Good morning," before leaving them to their morning routine.

As he made his way back to the kitchen, Xu Zheng couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Today was a new day, filled with possibilities and opportunities. And he was determined to make the most of it, for the sake of his family and their future.

The family made their way to the river, following their usual routine. They washed up quickly, the cold water invigorating them for the day ahead. Returning to the house, they ate the leftover soup, savoring the warm and comforting flavors.

With their bellies full, they set out on their journey to town. Huang Feng carried the basket with the rabbits, while Xu Zheng held the one with the fruit and vegetables. Huang Xu walked beside his father, his small hand clasped in Xu Zheng's.

They walked briskly, the town not too far from their home. As they approached the cart stand, Xu Zheng called out to the driver, "Excuse me, sir, may I know how much it would cost to get to town?"

The driver replied, "Our fixed price is 5 copper coins." Xu Zheng's heart sank a little as he thought to himself, 'I only have 27 copper coins, and the cart driver is asking for 5 copper coins for the trip. That seems expensive, considering we're struggling financially. I hope it's not per person.' He plastered a polite smile on his face and asked, "Excuse me, sir, is the price of 5 copper coins per person or the whole price? I'm financially a bit tight."

The driver's expression softened, "I apologize, sir. The price of 5 copper coins is for the entire journey. If you are a bit tight on money, I can make a slight adjustment and charge you 3 copper coins instead."

A sense of relief washed over Xu Zheng. "Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation. If you could take us to our destination for 3 copper coins, we would appreciate it and gladly accept."

They climbed into the cart, Huang Xu sitting on Xu Zheng's lap, Xu Zheng gave the driver the name of their town, and they set off.

As they traveled, the scenery passed by, the fields and trees blurring into a green and brown tapestry. Xu Zheng held his daughter close, feeling the warmth of her small body against his own.

As the cart jostled along the road, Xu Zheng noticed Huang Hua staring at him intently. He could tell that the young boy had something on his mind.

"Hua'er," he said gently, "I have noticed that you have something on your mind. Please, tell me what is bothering you, I'm here to listen."
