y/n l/n. that name was well known to katsuki bakugou since the first day of school. when you both were roughly 2 or 3 years old. you and the young spiky blonde boy both clicked instantly and became very close, always playing with each other in the playground and sharing each other's lunches.
although you always hung around him and his little group of minions you never EVER bullied izuku, and would constantly scold bakugou when he did. that was one thing you guys didn't exactly click with. but you stayed best friends, always talking about when you two would get your quirks you would BOTH be the number one heroes together, fighting evil.
"hey katsu! i got you something." you ran up to him with your short tiny legs, holding two bracelets in your hand. one was orange, the other was blue. the orange one had a K, then a dot, then a B. to symbolise bakugou's initials.
"woah! those are awesome. are they for you and me?" he examined the bracelets in awe as you giggled pleased with his reaction.
"mhm! the orange one's yours, the blue one's mine. look! it has our initials!" you handed him his and jumped up and down excitedly. bakugou grabbed it and examined it.
"it's our favourite colours!" he pointed out, slipping the bracelet on, you did the same. the bracelets were a bit baggy on your tiny wrists, but that was the point.
when they fit you perfectly, you'd know you were destined to be together forever. so bakugou never took it off, EVER. and you didn't either.
bakugou manifested his quirk first, and true, it was incredible, you would always flatter him by telling him how cool you thought his power was. that's around the time he became full of himself, gaining fame from your classmates because of his explosive capability.
but when you got yours, more fame fell upon you. suddenly, everyone wanted to be your friend. you went from the shy girl who always stood around bakugou and izuku to this friendly outgoing girl with a fascinating quirk. everyone recognised your likeable character and you were the most popular girl.
without realisation, you and bakugou drifted apart, becoming completely different people. you no longer talked or had playdates or shared your food, no longer paired up in class and sent notes, getting in trouble with the teacher. it was like.. you never knew each other, like you had never met.
izuku stayed by you though, he admired your quirk just as much as he did with bakugou's and despite your new girl group, you made sure you were still protecting him and being his buddy, whether he had a quirk or not. because unlike bakugou, this quirk changed you for the better, not for the worse. that's why you two became so different.
bakugou was the first to see your glory when you got your quirk for the first time in class. he never said it out loud, but he thought you were the most greatest person ever. of course he expected everything to stay the same after that, you would both be the most popular kids, by each other's side. but it wasn't. it never would be.
