Bareback

I rode bareback for the first time in three years today,
I stopped after getting bucked off and breaking my foot,
but today, I plucked up the courage,
and took my work horse out,

Bareback.

I don't own a horse anymore, it costs too much,
and I didn't ride enough to keep the one I owned healthy,
so now, I have one of my neighbor's horses, which is my own,
I help move cattle, but I never move cattle,

Bareback.

It's too dangerous, and wouldn't make sense anyway,
why would you move cattle without a saddle?
Man, you'd just be asking for death!
You never, ever, ever move cattle,

Bareback.

So, I haven't ridden bareback in three years,
paralyzed from my fears,
it took me three months to get back on a horse after my accident,
I just the third time's the charm when you're riding life,

Bareback.

So, today, I took my work house out to Cattle Alley,
(we named it riding as a kid),
and among the skulls of cows,
I rode,

Bareback.

And it felt good, to feel my horse's power under my legs,
no saddle, no saddlebag,
just me and my horse,
riding,

Bareback.

Although my legs are tired, my thighs sore,
tomorrow, I think I'll go challenge it again,
I'll continue riding,
I'll ride,

Bareback.
