Dad's Boots

Dad's boots were size 9,
Tony Lama brand,
too big for my little feet,
but I wanted them anyway.

Hoped and prayed for that day,
that day when I'd fit those boots,
years later, the hope is gone,
the boots gone too.

Got my own pair of boots in 1st grade,
used to threaten to kick any boy,
any boy who tried to mess with me,
the boys in my grade still joke about those days.

Right now got some boots,
they ain't no Justin's,
they ain't regular sized,
they're short and pointy.

I still love em all the same,
so comfortable and cute,
a boy in Health tells me,
"You look damn good in boots."

Yeah, I'll never fit my dad's boots,
they'll never fit me,
but that's okay, because I got my own,
and the memories will never fade.
