Kiya's POV
It's been almost a month since I've seen Xavier and it kinda sucks in a way it hurts a lot more than my breakup.
I feel like Xavier just broke up with me.
He hasn't been at school. I've been trying to knock on his window and there's no answer.
I'm completely shut out from his life.
The investigation is still going on, they have video footage of me running out of Mr.Miller's room crying so Ares is off the hook he still has detention though.
Ares hasn't looked my way since the day at the principal's office. Nobody knows what happened, everyone is confused on why Ares punched the teacher and why Mr.Miller got fired.
I only told Diamond and Tyshawn what happened, they were shocked.
Aphrodite has been coming over to my house a lot lately to check up on me. She's not as bad as I thought she was.
I walk into my dad's room.
"Daddy?" I said
"Come in sweetheart" dad said
"I have to ask you something?" I said
"Yes" he said
"If you know someone is getting abused by a person they love, what do you do if they won't allow you to help?" I ask
"You're talking about Xavier?" He asks
"How did you know?" I ask
"Darling I've known for years" Dad said
"Then why didn't you do anything!" I yelled
"I don't know who you think you're yelling at but you better calm your ass down I'm going to let you side this once because you're upset" Dad said
"Sorry daddy" I said
"If I don't see his dad actually hit him or his mom or if Xavier tells me what is going on in that house there's nothing I can do. Your mom already tried reporting him Xavier's mom lied and said she fell. She was protecting her husband. She'd do it again and shit Xavier might protect him too" he said
"I don't know how to help him" I said
"Don't give up on him, he needs you" dad said
"Even if he shuts me out?" I said
"You gotta have patience babydoll" dad said
I sigh "Daddy I can't lose him as a friend"
"I know doll" he said
After my conversation with dad I left the house going to my car. I just need time to think alone.
I drove down to me and Xavier's secret spot. It's just a waterfall in the woods, we found it when we were 15 and we called it our secret spot. Nobody ever comes here, usually when we want to get away from the world to be alone we come here.
I walk towards the water and skip rocks in the water
"Have I ever told you that you're terrible at skipping rocks?" Someone said
I turned around to see him on top of a rock sitting down.
I don't know if I should run up and hug him or stay put.
"I'm not that bad" I replied
"You really are" he laughs
"Whatever" I roll my eyes and continue to try to skip the rocks across the water.
