Chapter 9: Fire And Ice

The next day I was at Aphrodite's house. I grab the chips and turn around and jump a little Ares was in front of me.

"You have no idea how good I can make you feel," he says and I gasp.

How does he go from ignoring and avoiding me to this?

"Really, you don't have to admit it. I can tell your body wants me" he says, his voice thick with arrogance.

But all I can do is shake my head. His smile grows and I instinctively back against the wall.

He takes a step toward me, and I take a deep, hopeful breath.

"Your pulse has quickened, hasn't it? Your mouth is a little dry. You're thinking about me and you have that feeling...Don't you, Kiya?"

I know that if I don't say something now, he will win. I don't want him to have this power over me and win, too.

"You're completely and utterly wrong," I mutter.

But he smiles showing off his braces.

"I'm never wrong," he says. "Not about this"

I step to the side before he fully traps me against the wall.

"Why do you keep saying I throw myself at you if you're the one cornering me now?" I ask

"Because you made the first move on me. Don't get me wrong, I was as surprised as you were." He said

"I was drunk and I was confused because you were being nice to me well, your version of being nice." I push past him

Talking to him is so exhausting.

"I'm not that mean to you" he laughs

I stop walking and turn around.

"Yeah, you are. You go out of your way to be so rude to me and not just me, but everyone in the entire world. But it still seems like you are extra hard on me." I said

"That's just not entirely true. I'm no meaner to you than I am to the rest of the general population." He said

I knew I couldn't have a normal discussion with him.

"I don't know why I keep wasting my time by talking to you" I start walking out of the kitchen

"Because a part of you enjoys speaking to me" he said

I roll my eyes walking upstairs I went into Aphrodite's room.

"Your brother is such an arrogant asshole" I shut the door

"Very" she says not looking up from her phone.

"You should stay over my house tonight for like a sleepover" Aphrodite said

"I don't know if I should" I said

For one my dad doesn't want me around Aphrodite or her family and for two I'd be leaving Xavier alone in my room. And for three I don't want to be around Ares for longer than I have to.

"Pleaseee Kiya" she said

"I have to ask my dad" I said

"Oh yeah I was meaning to ask you where's that boy that you use to be around at? Did he move?" She asks

"Xavier?" I ask

"Yes him" she said

"He's been sick, why?" I ask

"Cause he is so hot!! Do you have his Snapchat I want to add him" she said

I started to get irritated.
