Four months flew by slowly...
I haven't spoken to Ares since Valentines Day. It's longest we've went without talking to each other.
I miss him everyday.
"Why is a pretty girl like you sitting at home watching Netflix?" Someone asks turning on my light
I turn my head looking at him confused with a spoon full of ice cream in my mouth.
I let the ice cream dissolve in my mouth before speaking.
"Why aren't you at prom with your date?" I ask
"Well my date who was the one to ask me showed up with another guy" he laughs coming towards the bed with a huge gift box
"What's in the box?" I ask
"My collection of Pokémon cards" he grins
"Nerd" I roll my eyes
"Open it up" he said
"Nothing better not pop out Mari" I untied the bow and opened up the lid pulling back the tissue paper revealing a beautiful red dress.
"Amari...how" I looked up at him shocked
"I can't take full credit I helped pick out the dress but an anonymous source who wants to remain unknown paid for the dress. And me, Jayden, Diamond, Tyshawn and Vera chipped into buy the shoes" he said
"Anonymous source? Is it you?" I ask
"Nope! Not me. My pockets don't run that deep for a dress" he said
"Amari I can't go, I missed half of dance" I said
"We have it handled the dance doesn't end till 12:30am it's only 8." He said
"They extended the time?" I asked
"Yes now that credit goes to Tyshawn for talking to his aunt the principal now get up and get dressed your date is waiting" he said
I took the big fluffy red dress and heels out of the box.
"Whew that dress is expensive" Amari said
"How much are we talking?" I ask
"He said roughly around 9K" Amari said
"Oh so it's a he?" I ask
"Did you think it was Diamond? She has a date" He laughs
"Shut up Mari" I get up from the bed going into my closet picking out lingerie.
"Go with the black one" Amari said looking over my shoulder
"Why is my ex helping me pick out lingerie" I laugh
"Aye I'm rooting for him" he said
"Mari you're not mad about this?" I ask
"At first I was like why the fuck is he coming to me but the more I talked to him the more I realized that he's good for you, I think" Amari said
"You think?" I ask
"Let's just say he's not perfect" he said
"Not perfect huh? So he's a senior?" I said
"That's the only hint you'll get" he said
"Hm" I walk into the bathroom shutting the door. I took a quick shower then light some light makeup.
I put my hair into a neat curly bun and slipped on my lingerie stepping back into my bedroom.
