That day, Light went to one of the extra rooms in headquarters and fell asleep in the bed there. He was really stressed and distraught at once, feeling like his happiness will never return. Even after everything he's been thorough, this was the worst feeling he's ever been in. He couldn't stop crying and felt his heart breaking each hour and more than ever. Hearing the words how he got a miscarriage is just so much, that he felt everything crumbling down and he hated himself for allowing this to all happen. The door knocked and he went to see who it was. He saw that Soichiro was the one who knocked the door.
"Light, I just wanted to see if you're okay." He said, allowing Light to hug him and he did so, crying hysterically some more and couldn't even stop doing so. "I truly am sorry for you and L's loss. You don't know how heartbroken I am to hear this." Soichiro told him and Light nodded, not wanting to speak. The older Yagami saw how silent he is, thinking maybe some space could help for the time being.
"Light, you're more than welcome to take some time off of work. You have my permission and the rest of the Task Force's." He told him and he gulped, walking away and went to find L. He found him crying and held his hand, crying alongside him.
"Light, I'm sad too. But I can't allow the fact we both got unlucky during a moment like this. I'm sorry for getting you pregnant. I don't understand how it happened. We both were protected for a reason." L softly said and Light nodded, still not speaking at all.
"Light, it's okay to not talk. Give yourself all the time to grieve you can." L said, kissing him as the rain was pouring out. He then placed his hand on Light's belly, knowing their baby is truly dead. That night, Light ate nothing and L spoke to Watari, who was still very angry.
"Watari, I get that you're angry. But you have no reason to be. We did a mistake and we vow to never have kids again until ever." L said, eating his bowl of steamed vegetables and rice, as well as some noodles.
"Do you not know how embarrassing it is you would be this careless to be this way?!" He screamed, clearly angry and disappointed still at him for his actions.
"Yes. And I'm truly sorry. Light is sorry too." He apologized, trying to remain calm and not yell at him for acting like this.
"You both should never have had unprotected sex so young like that! Imagine if Light was a teenager and you're still an adult. You basically would've raped him!" He screamed some more at the dark haired 22 year old.
"Watari, can you please stop screaming at us. That won't solve anything or help this situation." He answered, tears in his eyes.
"I don't fucking care! You're grounded for six months. I don't ever want Light to live here anymore either." Watari answered back and Light heard that last part he said, running off to cry his eyes and went to his and L's room. L saw this and was truly pissed off now. So much as so, he began to curse him out on his bullshit and how he shouldn't have blamed this all on him and Light, when it's nobody's fault.
Late at night, L went to check up on Light and found him crying again in his sleep. He held his hand and kissed his forehead. He saw hurt and heartbroken Light truly is and wanted to talk to him, but he couldn't. He was just rightfully in a horrible place and it is sad truly. "Light, I'm sorry Watari basically doesn't want you to live with us anymore. I will tell him that he's being unfair and unreasonable." L softly said, kissing Light some more, stroking his belly. Light breathed heavily, shaking as well as he couldn't let him feel it without remembering they created something beautiful inside.
"Light, it's okay to not talk. Grieving is a bitch but it helps us heal." L said to him and he nodded. About three days later, they went to the Yagami household and Sachiko hugged them both, knowing the sad news and allowed them inside.
"Is there anything I can make for you two?" She asked L and Light, especially Light since he is her son and firstborn child.
"I'll have whatever tea you have." L answered, still sad and upset. Light didn't say anything, other than looking down in sadness and wearing sunglasses and a hat. Sachiko then came back with the tea as she already had made it for L and Light ahead of time. Light rejected it and his face startled crumbling as he began to cry again.
"Light and L, I just want you to know that it'll all be okay. I know what it's like to deal with a miscarriage. Light, do you know why you were given your name?" Sachiko said, confronting her son and future son in law this whole thing, asking Light why he was given his first name. He shook his head no, refusing to say a word still.
"It goes like this. Six months after your father and I got married, I ended up pregnant and 11 weeks later, I lost our baby. It was truly devastating and heartbreaking. I had a second miscarriage about three months later, at only 8 weeks. My third one was about 25 weeks and it was the worst one I've ever had because I really wanted this baby to make it alive, but it didn't. He died that week in the NICU and it was super hard on us.
It was then I've decided to wait a whole year to have another child and spoke to your father about it. He said that we can do so and he will make sure everything will be better this time. It did and nine months later, you were born all happy and smiling. You became the light of our world and still became it. Thankfully with Sayu, I didn't have to worry about them as she came out healthy too." She explained the whole thing, which made Light cry harder.
"That is so sad, yet so beautiful at the end. I always wondered how Light got his name and now, it all makes sense." L said, wiping his eyes as he was emotional to hear this. He drank some of his tea and smiled a little at it. "Sachiko, I was reading up on miscarriages being genetic. Do you believe it's likely Light having a miscarriage was because of genetics? Based on your previous history of three of them." L asked her, wondering as such.
"I believe it is. My mother had two of them and finally, my sister was born and didn't have anymore problems after." She said and Light went to his room to cry some more. Sachiko and L saw him like this, worried about him. L then told Sachiko how he hasn't spoken in three days.
"It'll take some time. If he still doesn't after 6 months, that's when you have to let us know." She said, confronting L as he started to cry.
"I just hope Watari changes his mind by then." He sobbed, crying harder as this miscarriage is so depressing to deal with. We then see Light in his old room, crying some more. Ryuk showed up and saw him in a very emotional state, wondering why he's like this again.
"Light, are you okay?" He asked him, laying down in the bed to join him. Light didn't say anything, but he did look at Ryuk with red and puffy eyes. "You aren't alright. Did something happen?" The Shinigami asked again and Light nodded.
"What is it?" He asked his human best friend and Light placed his right hand in his belly, then did a heart shape and broken one after, mimicking wings. "Light, you have to tell me. I don't understand." Ryuk told him, not knowing what is going on. L showed up an hour later and saw him.
"Hi, Ryuk." He greeted him sadly, hugging the god of death. He explained to him about what happened and Light screamed in mental agony, crying harder and covered his ears as he sobbed.
"Light, it's going to be alright. Please don't cry." Ryuk assured him, placing his arm in his shoulder. For the first time ever, L has never seen Light scream and cry all at once like that. Especially after his rape, he was so much more sensitive and it broke him entirely to the point he was super paranoid and unable to leave the apartment.
