"Hermione!" Y/N exclaimed, the crisp autumn leaves falling gently around her.

Y/N rushed up to Hermione, her hand grasping Hermione's shoulder, her breath slightly bated with anticipation.

"Hermione—" Y/N began, but Hermione turned around, her expression initially filled with frustration.

However, her frustration turned to surprise as she paused, her breath catching in her throat. She couldn't help but notice the radiant gleam in Y/N's eyes, the leaves cascading gracefully behind her like a natural backdrop. Y/N's gaze was fixed on Hermione, as if Hermione were the very center of Y/N's universe. In that fleeting moment, it felt as though time itself had come to a standstill.

"Don't ignore me," Y/N implored gently, coaxing Hermione to face her completely. "Please."

"Y/N—" Y/N's name quivered on Hermione's lips, a hint of vulnerability in her voice.

Their eyes locked, an unspoken connection passing between them. Hermione studied Y/N's gaze, her head tilting slightly in curiosity at the intensity with which Y/N looked at her.

Y/N continued to hold Hermione's gaze, her heart beating erratically. In that moment, amidst the fallen leaves and the brisk autumn air, Y/N experienced something entirely new—a sensation of absolute certainty.

"What Malfoy said..." Y/N began, her words stumbling out in a flurry, her cheeks turning a rosy hue. "What Malfoy said," she stammered, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, "about your crush on me... Is it true?"

Hermione's lips parted, but no words came out at first. She blinked rapidly, her gaze flickering between Y/N's eyes as if searching for answers.

"Hermione," Y/N said, her voice tinged with desperation. "Tell me the truth."

Hermione hesitated, torn between her feelings for Y/N, but she couldn't help but feel like a homewrecker is she said the truth. Though Y/N's soft touch on her cheek made her heart race, she held her tongue.

"Y/N, come on," Hermione said with feigned playfulness, playing it off as a joke.

But Y/N didn't look satisfied, she didn't reciprocate the playfulness. Y/N's eyes pleaded with Hermione, her fingers still resting on Hermione's cheek. "Hermione, I promise you that I won't..." her breath hitched, searching for the right words to say.

"I—I wouldn't...Mind," she paused briefly. "—you know, if you did."

Hermione searched Y/N's gaze for a moment, the blood rushed to her cheeks instantaneously, then let out a forced chuckle, trying to lighten the mood. She playfully punched Y/N's shoulder. "Oh, Y/N, you're being silly."

Confusion clouded Y/N's face as she asked, "What do you mean?"

Hermione continued with a strained smile, "We're like siblings, Y/N. You're my best friend, and I couldn't imagine us any other way. It would be too weird."
