[ Chapter 32: Longed ]

Selene | Selvy

As I made my way down the hallway towards the Banquet hall, a surge of nervousness and anxiety washed over me. I questioned my decision to go along with Miracle's mischievous plan, doubting whether I would end up embarrassing myself. Despite these doubts, I found myself unable to turn back now.

As people caught sight of me, their jaws dropped in astonishment, their gazes fixed upon me as if I were a celebrity. Miracle, always by my side, wore a wide smile, clearly enjoying the attention we were garnering. Part of me wanted to shake my head in disbelief at the overwhelming emotions swirling within me, but I couldn't bring myself to do so.

Miracle's plan had yet to even begin, but I already felt the strong urge to retreat to the safety of my room and hide away from the spotlight. The weight of everyone's expectations and the fear of making a fool of myself threatened to consume me. Nonetheless, I took a deep breath, mustering all the courage I could find, and continued walking forward, determined to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

"Wow, I didn't know Selvy could pull off such a stunning look," Frencia remarked with a touch of mockery in her tone. Her expression matched the underlying meaning of her words. "I told you, you should dress up more often. You look truly beautiful."

I couldn't help but feel a mix of annoyance and amusement at Frencia's blunt and straightforward nature. She had a knack for catching me off guard, brandishing a camera before she even spoke. Despite her straightforwardness, we both knew she meant no harm.

"Unfortunately, the man you're looking for is with the General. They had to step out of the Banquet for an important matter," Frencia revealed.

"What? Dion didn't mention anything," Miracle expressed, disappointment flickering across her eyes. "I even dressed up for him!"

"Let's just change then," I suggested, hoping to find a way out of this situation.

"No," Miracle insisted. "Rule number one for women is to enjoy the day, even if the original plan goes awry."

I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her unwavering optimism. Miracle was determined to make the most of the day, regardless of the circumstances. Frencia agreed with her, leaving me no choice but to face the reality that I would have to endure wearing this dress a little while longer.

The day ahead was filled with numerous activities, and Frencia had her schedule fully booked. She had been eagerly looking forward to this celebration, as it provided an opportunity for her to explore and indulge in various experiences. Meanwhile, the Queen diligently carried out her responsibilities, ensuring the smooth running of the shows and ensuring that everyone was enjoying themselves.

Adjacent to the Palace, there was a lively street market bustling with vendors offering a wide array of delectable delicacies and enticing goods. We decided to take some time to explore the market before our scheduled agenda began. If it weren't for the discomfort in my foot, I would have been able to fully immerse myself in the festivities and enjoy the occasion.

Miracle had lent me a pair of four-inch heels with an elegant design reminiscent of ocean waves. They matched my earrings and hairpin perfectly, but the overall style felt somewhat incongruous with my chosen dress. Despite that, I appreciated the effort she had put into coordinating my accessories.

"Look, Selvy!" Frencia grabbed my arm and used her other hand to point something at the crowd. "I heard from the Queen that a giant mascot is a thing on Earth, is the person inside it a giant too?"

Excitement gleamed in Frencia's eyes as she pointed towards the crowd, drawing my attention to a giant mascot of a bunny dressed in an apron. According to what she had heard from the Queen, such mascots were a common sight on Earth. Frencia couldn't help but wonder if the person inside the costume was also giant-sized.
