The virtue of being right often leads to suspicion, a feeling that had been creeping up on Jennie in regards to her best friend. Today, the sense of unease was stronger than ever as she noticed Jisoo appearing dazed and distant at work. Despite being physically present in the kitchen, it was evident that Jisoo's mind was somewhere far away.
Examining her friend closely, Jennie noticed a small cut on Jisoo's lower lip. Concerned, she approached her slowly, her eyes narrowing in focus. The sight of the fresh, swollen cut sparked a wave of thoughts in Jennie's mind, and a sudden feeling of irritation began to prick at her.
"Is everything alright?" Jennie's voice rang out loudly, breaking the silence in the kitchen as she tried to get Jisoo's attention. Startled, Jisoo's arm jerked, accidentally knocking over the mixing bowl. A small yelp escaped her lips as she watched the ingredients scatter onto the ground.
"Nooo! No...no...nooo!" Jisoo whined in displeasure as she crouched down on the floor, attempting to gather the spilled flour for sweeping. Without hesitation, Jennie sprang into action, taking the broom from Jisoo's hands.
"I got this... step aside!" Jennie declared, swiftly sweeping the floor clean. Jisoo looked up at her with a small smile of gratitude.
"Thank you. I'm sorry... I... I just feel a bit off today," Jisoo apologized, nervously running her hand through her hair. Jennie paused in her sweeping, her expression turning cold as she observed Jisoo's anxious behavior. It was clear to her that something was amiss, and she was determined to find out what it was.
"Jisoo? What's wrong? You're acting so weird. It's kinda making me anxious," Jennie voiced her concerns, her gaze fixed on her friend's face. Jisoo's eyes widened as her hands froze in their movements through her hair.
"Huh? No... I'm... I'm just feeling tired... I... stayed up all night... calculating the expenses," Jisoo replied, avoiding eye contact. She swiftly picked up the bowl from the ground and placed it on the table.
"Look... I'm sorry if I have been so insufferable lately! I know I haven't been the most supportive and understanding friend... I'm sorry! I just want you to be open with me... just like in the past! I'm so worried about you being so closed off with me...!" Jennie expressed with sorrowful eyes, urging Jisoo to trust her. Jisoo sighed, realizing the concern in Jennie's expression.
"I'm sorry! But... truly... there's nothing going on in my life! I-" Jisoo's explanation was cut short by the sound of the bakery door opening. Startled, they both turned to see someone entering.
"I'll go!" Jisoo hurriedly excused herself and left the kitchen. Jennie sighed, feeling disappointed by the unsuccessful attempt to get information from Jisoo. She resumed sweeping the floor, unaware that the person who had just entered was the same man who had been looking for her friend.
Jisoo was stunned as her eyes met the man she had been daydreaming about. Her heart skipped a beat, and her breath quickened within seconds. She was frozen in terror, unable to move from the overwhelming rush of emotions. On the other hand, Haein looked at her with a gaze that conveyed the depth of his desire and the love he already harbored for her.
