Haein's body froze in an unnatural stillness as he imagined Jisoo witnessing the recent events that had transpired. Dread consumed him, unsure of how she would react. His mind raced with worry that she might be concocting a false narrative involving him and Shin Hye. As his eyes met with hers, he saw anger burning fiercely, her gaze penetrating deep into his soul."Damn it! DAMN IT ALL!" He inwardly cursed his decision to stay for breakfast with Shin Hye. With a heavy heart, he rose from his seat and attempted to approach her workstation, but she quickly retreated. A sigh of frustration escaped his lips as he observed her face twisted in anger.
"Jisoo? Jisoo... please, just let me explain!" he pleaded, attempting to enter.
"What on earth are you up to?" Jennie exclaimed, her expression alert as she moved to block his path. Haein couldn't help but let out a frustrated chuckle at the way he was being treated by the woman.
"I'm sorry, but I need to speak with your boss. Please step aside," he said sternly, causing Jennie to scrunch up her face in annoyance.
"I'm telling you, that's not possible! So, please come to the register and pay up!" she retorted. His irritation grew at her dismissive attitude towards him.
"What's your problem with me?" he asked, taking a step closer to Jennie. Feeling threatened by his sudden change in demeanor, Jennie pushed him back.
"What's gotten into you? Who do you think you are to approach me like that!" Jennie raged. Jisoo observed the escalating tension between the two, knowing that if she didn't intervene, things could spiral out of control.
"Jennie, please... go back to the kitchen," Jisoo said firmly, surprising Jennie.
"I can handle this, Jisoo!" Jennie argued back, but Jisoo quickly approached her and firmly grabbed her arm.
"Listen to me! Go back inside! I've got this," Jisoo asserted with unwavering eyes. Jennie's lips pursed tightly, the anger evident in her expression.
"Fine!" she replied in annoyance, quickly retreating back to the kitchen. Haein let out a sigh of relief, his patience wearing thin with Jisoo's employee.
"Jisoo, let me exp—" he began, but she promptly interrupted him. Her eyes blazed with fury, her face a clear indication of how angry she was with him.
"I don't want to hear anything! It's obvious what I saw! All I ask is for you to never return to my bakery again from this day on! You... you liar!" she spat out, her eyes seething as her hands clenched into fists. Haein was caught off guard by her sudden outburst; nothing could have readied him for this.
"Liar?" He murmured in disbelief. Jisoo shot him a disdainful look, her eyes unwavering.
"Yes! You go around deceiving women by kissing them wherever and whenever you please," she whispered in a hushed tone to prevent others from overhearing their conversation.
"What are you saying? You... you don't know what you're saying! If you didn't notice, she kissed me! And you don't get to call me a liar when all you've done is avoid me! How and when am I supposed to even tell you the truth?" Haein exclaimed, gripping her arm tightly. The customers inside the bakery fell strangely silent, watching the unfolding scene near the open station beside the display counter.
"Look at me and tell me to my face if I have truly lied to you," he challenged, locking eyes with her. Jisoo was rendered speechless, realizing he was right. She couldn't fault him for anything; her avoidance and lack of response to his calls were a clear message that she wanted nothing more to do with him.
"You can't accuse me of lying to you! Can you? If only you would allow me to talk... and clarify everything that's happened. Please... let me," he spoke softly, leaning in.
