Under the blazing midday sun, the roads glistened as Haein drove towards Rochester city with a grin on his face. The tall skyscrapers stood proudly against the clear blue sky, casting long shadows in the scorching heat. Excitement bubbled within him as he anticipated watching JongSuk's football match. Ever since that fateful day they spent together, Haein couldn't help but feel a deep admiration for the boy. The love and care he held for JongSuk were indescribable, filling his heart with pure joy.
Life's journey is a mysterious path, full of unexpected twists and turns that lead us to destinations we never imagined. Sometimes, we must surrender to the unknown and trust that the road will guide us to where we are meant to be. Embracing these surprises offers us the chance to encounter our true destiny along the way.
His gaze fixed on the horizon, he raced down the highway, his hands firm on the wheel as he navigated a sharp left turn. The billboards lining the road boasted flashy ads from various entertainment companies, but his attention remained solely on the path ahead. The speed at which he traveled matched the intensity of his concentration, blocking out the distractions of the flashy billboards.
Following the GPS instructions, he smoothly took another turn to head east. However, his speed decreased abruptly as he caught sight of bystanders on the edge of his vision. "What's going on?" he muttered in confusion as he observed police officers signaling cars to slow down. His grip on the steering wheel tightened as he noticed smoke billowing in the distance. As he neared a police officer, he rolled down his window, eager to find out more about the situation.
"Officer, is the road to Rochester closed?" Haein inquired, leaning out of his window to address the police officer. Meeting his gaze, the officer nodded in confirmation.
"Yes, sir! The road is temporarily closed due to multiple accidents caused by fallen trees blocking the highway. Several vehicles were involved in collisions," the officer explained calmly, his eyes steady as he relayed the information.
"Frustrating," he cursed silently, maintaining his composure outwardly.
"Is there an alternate route to Rochester? I must arrive before Sunday," he expressed with genuine concern, worried about missing the event. The officer tilted his head to the side, contemplating the options.
"Well... the highway would have taken about 6 to 7 hours, but taking country roads will extend your journey to almost a day," the officer replied. Haein's eyes widened in surprise, a wave of disappointment washing over him at the thought of the extended travel time.
"Seriously? This just keeps getting worse!" Haein exclaimed, his face contorting with frustration at the unexpected turn of events.
"The storm has wreaked havoc on both the highway and the airway! Best of luck on your journey, sir... please continue on," the officer directed. Haein let out a defeated sigh, pressing down on the accelerator to resume his journey. As he navigated past the congested area, something in the distance caught his eye.
