Haein's eyes bulged in astonishment, gaping in disbelief at the sight before him. Siwon, equally taken aback, was stunned to find Haein standing in front of his house. His gaze lingered, silently questioning the reason for Haein's unexpected presence.
"Why are you here?" Siwon's voice was filled with disappointment as Haein remained silent. Haein involuntarily gasped, his mind racing to make sense of the swirling thoughts and questions surrounding the unexpected encounter.
"I asked you a damn question! Answer me!" Siwon's voice was laced with anger as he shoved Haein backwards. Jinu swiftly stepped in, placing himself between the two men. Haein scoffed in disbelief at Siwon's unchanging arrogance.
"Do you ever change?" Haein asked in exasperation, his gaze fixed on Siwon's dark eyes. Siwon moved to advance, but Jinu swiftly blocked his path, preventing him from closing in on his boss.
"Sir, step back!" Jinu's voice was firm as he admonished the man's clear intent to harm Haein. Siwon's face twisted in anger as he was forcibly restrained by Haein's bodyguard.
"Get your hands off me! Or I'll punch your face in!" Siwon yelled back at Jinu, his anger unchecked. Haein's lips pressed into a thin line, his disgust evident in his expression as he firmly gripped Siwon's arm. With a swift motion, Haein pushed him against the wall, fixing a stern gaze on him.
"Have you ever thought about showing some respect to others? Siwon, let's have a civil conversation!" Haein shouted, pinning him against the wall. Siwon's adrenaline surged, prompting him to forcefully push Haein away.
"Talk to you? Are you kidding me? Why would I even entertain that idea when I know you're only here because of my wife! Isn't that right? How long have you been harassing her, you bastard?" Siwon's words dripped with fury as his eyes blazed with rage. Jinu moved to intervene, but Haein quickly blocked him, determined to confront Siwon alone.
"Isn't it ironic? You were the one who harassed her in the past after she was discharged from the hospital. And yes, I won't deny it... that's exactly why I'm here!. She's the sole reason for my presence! But... I fail to comprehend why you're so upset... when you clearly abandoned her and JongSuk four years ago!"
"It shouldn't concern you... that I'm back in touch with her after what you did to me! In fact, I should be the one furious, considering you're the one who ultimately took her away from me! Your unease stems from the fear that history might repeat itself!" Haein retorted, a small smile playing on his lips. Siwon, unable to contain his anger, forcefully grabbed Haein's collar, his eyes widening in fury.
"You'll never have a chance with her again, because I'm back now! I'll make sure you feel like the most miserable man on earth if you ever try to win her back!" Siwon's threat was laced with venom, his eyes flashing with a menacing intensity. But Haein remained unfazed; he had seen those same eyes before in the past.
"In the past, I was young and foolish to let you deceive her and distort the truth. But now... I won't give up! She's been with me and knows how I truly feel about her... unlike before when I let you portray me as a ghost who was never there for her!"
"I know she believes I'm her other half... that I'm the one she's been searching for... and not even you, who deceived her from the start to win her heart, can sever that bond!" Haein declared with confidence, tightening his grip on Siwon's clothing. Fury surged through Siwon as he listened to Haein's words. He realized that if Jisoo ever regained her memories of the past, it would spell the end for him.
"Dad?" Siwon's attention shifted abruptly to his son, who stood frozen, witnessing the altercation outside the house. JongSuk was bewildered, unable to comprehend why his father and former teacher were in a heated confrontation. Siwon's gaze returned to Haein, noticing the change in his demeanor upon seeing JongSuk.
"You're hell-bent on tearing apart the family she has with me, aren't you? Look at that child... he's my son, and I expect you to respect us as a family!" Siwon's words dripped with disdain as he forcefully pushed Haein away. Jinu swiftly moved to catch his boss before he stumbled.
"If you interfere with my relationship with Jisoo, you're also interfering with my son! So mind your words and don't dare mess with my family, because I promise you, you'll regret it!" Siwon's voice was laced with threat, his eyes dark and unwavering as he stood by the door. Haein couldn't shake off the image of JongSuk's terrified expression from just moments ago.
"I'm leaving... JongSuk shouldn't witness this," Haein stated firmly, his gaze shifting to JongSuk.
"Everything's okay, Buddy! You should-" His words were cut short as his phone buzzed in his jacket pocket.
"Call me if you need anything, alright?" Haein said to JongSuk before turning away, ignoring Siwon's angry glare. He swiftly made his way to his car and answered the call.
"Yes?" He answered the call, his voice tense.
"Sir! A tragedy... a tragedy occurred on the company's premises!" Yuna exclaimed in distress. Haein's grip on the phone tightened, his brow furrowed in confusion.
"What? What kind of tragedy? What happened, Yuna?" Haein inquired anxiously, unaware of the shocking news that was about to be revealed to him.
"Miss Kim! Miss Kim was struck by a car while trying to cross the road to reach the company," Yuna's voice trembled over the line. Haein's complexion drained of color upon hearing the news of Jisoo's accident. Fear gripped his chest, rendering him breathless. He struggled to comprehend the devastating information.
"Sir? Are you still there?" Yuna's voice brought Haein back from his shocked daze. It felt like a sudden, haunting flashback to Jisoo's past accident replayed before his eyes.
"Please... tell me it's not true!! Please!" Haein pleaded in agony over the phone. Jinu, sensing the distress, turned back to see what was unfolding.
"Mr. President, she's being rushed to the nearest hospital..." she relayed, watching the paramedics load Jisoo into the ambulance. The sound of the ambulance sirens pierced the air, sending a chill of fear down Haein's spine.
"Jinu! Drive me to the nearest hospital close to the company, now!" Haein's voice trembled with anxiety, his urgency palpable. Jinu, sensing the gravity of the situation, didn't question him and swiftly started the car's engine.
