———->1 week later————->
Just like any other day, the sun rose in the sky signaling the start of a new day for Jisoo and JongSuk. They had returned to their city with Haein, who had kindly driven them back home. Everything at the company was running smoothly, mirroring the sense of ease that had returned to Haein's life now that he had her back by his side.
As the car pulled into Shin Hye's driveway, Haein couldn't help but reflect on how far he had deviated from others' expectations of him. He knew he could never return to the person he used to be, and to be honest, he didn't want to. Determination sparked within him as he vowed to seize control of his own life, regardless of the challenges ahead.
"Mr. Jung," the valet man greeted as he opened the car door for him, setting the tone for the new chapter Haein was about to embark on.
"Wait here, Jinu! I won't take long," Haein instructed as he hastily exited the car. Jinu nodded in acknowledgement and drove away, finding a spot near the garage to park. He settled in the car, patiently waiting for his boss to return, ready to assist him whenever needed.
Entering Shin Hye's house, Haein felt a pang of discomfort knowing that what he was about to do wouldn't be easy. Despite the difficulty, he was determined to break free and publicly declare his love for the woman he truly cared for. His conscience weighed heavy with guilt for straying and almost cheating on Shin Hye with someone else.
Lost in his contemplation, Haein was jolted back to reality by the loud clicking sounds resonating from a distance. His gaze shifted towards the source of the noise and there she was, the woman he had been waiting for, appearing in the waiting room.
"Haein? What a surprise! I assume you've just come from work?" Shin Hye greeted with a smile in her eyes, glancing at her wristwatch which read 5 in the afternoon.
"Indeed. I came because I wanted to talk with you," Haein replied, making his way over to her side of the room. Shin Hye's smile softened at his words, and she leaned in to kiss him. However, Haein skillfully turned his face, causing her lips to meet his cheek instead. A look of disappointment flashed across Shin Hye's face as she furrowed her brows.
"We need to talk," Haein stated, distancing himself from her. Shin Hye narrowed her eyes, trailing after him as he made his way to the couch.
"Talk about what, exactly? Our wedding preparations? Your mother mentioned we'll be holding a press conference in two weeks... I can't wait to share our love with the world!" Shin Hye exclaimed, beaming with joy. Haein let out a soft sigh, his gaze falling to the floor, his head shaking slightly as he struggled to find the right words.
"I'm afraid there will be no press conference in two weeks from now. I'm sorry," Haein abruptly announced, the words landing heavily on Shin Hye. She sat there, stunned and unblinking, trying to comprehend the sudden turn of events.
"What...what?" she stuttered in disbelief. Haein's gaze locked onto her face, a wave of weariness washing over him as he observed her contorted expression.
"Shin Hye... I know I promised to learn how to love you properly with time, and I truly intended to, but... recently, I've realized that it's not going to happen because... because I love someone else," Haein confessed with unwavering eyes, his genuine emotions laid bare. He felt genuine remorse for shattering her heart in this way.
"In love with somebody else? Is this all because of that woman from the bakery?" Shin Hye spat out boldly. Haein raised an eyebrow in surprise; he hadn't anticipated her knowing about the person he was referring to.
"How...how did you know?" he started to ask, only to be cut off by her suddenly raised voice that seemed to fill the entire room.
"How did I know? Let's just say you're a terrible actor... and that woman was pretty obvious. It didn't take me long to figure out there was something between you two!" Shin Hye retorted, rising swiftly from the couch. Haein felt a hint of panic creeping in as he trailed after her, matching her every step as they moved towards the end of the room.
