My Love Taken Away

Everything is going so much better now. I'm so glad. Link and I reached Zora's Domain by sundown. I watched him even though I knew all was well between us. He still seemed worried but at least the conflict that I saw in his eyes from earlier was now a distant memory. I find it funny how we've almost swapped roles. Now I'm always watching him and he's always looking forward. Our feet hit the turquoise stones of the bridge to the stunningly crafted palace. I heard Link inhale shakily as he seemed to hesitate to take another step further into what he seemed to view as a death sentence or something much for terrifying.

We walked a little further but not much more before the chaos seemed to begin.

"Link?! Is that you?" One of the zora's asked, seeming to be awestruck at seeing him. I looked around, seeing that this also caught other zora's attention as if Link was some sort of royalty. Link took a few steps back subconsciously, knocking into me slightly.

"H-Hi guys. It's... been awhile. " Link barely spoke, his emotions saying everything in an instant. Immediately at least five or six zora took off running toward the throne room while other's populated around us. Questions rose from the deepest parts of this place. People asked for stories that I had no clue about, things that I was unaware of, so many things that I had yet to learn about. The history from the past and the things that took place at the time of Link's childhood seemed to haunt him. Link seemed to only be able to bare answering the most simplest questions. He would simply shake his head or shrug to himself whenever they asked a question too deep for his liking. I could see all of this. I saw how much he was hurting and how he reacted to so many eyes on him. He's terrified, wanting to get out of this so badly. He's... a lot like me. He never asked for this... or maybe he did. I didn't stay in my thoughts for long for one question shocked me to my core upon hearing.

"Is the princess here to bless your marriage?" An elder zora asked, smiling with the utmost happiness. Link shook his head rapidly, telling them over and over again to stop talking about this marriage in which I had no clue about. This is what he was hiding. He's... cheating. How could he? My heart was in pieces and yet he seemed to get even more frustrated the more they brought up matters from the past. I knew he might lash out at any moment but I was shocked when he never did. He stayed calm or at least... he stayed calm enough so he wouldn't yell at anyone.

"Link! Mipha wishes to see you!" Several zora's shouted, running towards the party that was surrounding us. Link went blank then. The fear seemed to fade into a blank slate. The one I knew all too well. He stopped thinking, he stopped feeling, he stopped living in the moment. He took my hand before he lead me out of the large crowd, headed towards the divine beast. I was furious and yet I couldn't stay mad at him even though I knew what he was doing was wrong. We walked for quite awhile before he finally spoke.

"I'm so sorry. It's not what you think. I knew this would happen. I'm not engaged or anything like that if that's what you were thinking. Everyone wants me to be. Mipha and I-"

"Don't trick me." I said harshly, yanking my hand out of his, stopping dead in our tracks. Link turned around a moment later, staring at me with tear filled eyes before he looked down to let them fall.

"I would never trick you. I have no feelings for her." Link whispered, his body shuttering against the chill that came over the wind. I breathed out before I walked straight up to him, cupping his face before I kissed him again. I won't let her take you. You're mine. My Hylia, that sounds selfish. He flinched, about to step back but he corrected himself, moving closer to me, wrapping his arms around my waist, pulling me closer but it didn't last long. Link moved away from me suddenly. I heard footsteps from behind me then. I turned to face a zora approaching us, offering to escort us to Mipha himself. We agreed and were led to the divine beast were Mipha was, attempting to gain control over the huge machine. When we arrived the trunk of the machine was lowered to the ground so we could walk onto it and there, on the trunk waited Mipha who's eyes seemed to get brighter as we approached. She's looking at him. Why is she staring at him like he holds the key to everything? He's mine... I shouldn't think that. What am I thinking? If I show that I like him... that would be a terrible thing that could be reported. I took a deep breath, attempting to try and go emotionless like Link had done so many times in front of me. I wasn't sure how well I was hiding anything but at least I was attempting to make an effort to not show that I had feelings for my knight.

"It's lovely to see you both." Mipha said, clutching her blue zora spear in her hands, smiling sweetly. Link nodded once, while a I moved to speak.

"It's good to see you too. Did you need any help with your divine beast by chance? I would love to assist you." I said, not really feeling like helping at all. Even as I spoke to her, she continued to look at Link.

"Actually, everything is quite well with Vah Ruta and I. I would like to speak to Link if possible?" She asked, now looking towards me.

"He's barely spoken a word to me. I doubt you'll get through to him." I said, trying to stop them from having a reason to be alone. I watched Link's expression change ever so slightly. He seemed to go even more emotionless than before.

"Please princess, I must insist that I speak with him. I'm not sure if you know this but Link has made a promise to me that I would like to speak with him about. Is there any way that he could just come with me for just a couple minutes?" Mipha asked again, this time sounding desperate to speak with my appointed knight. I know I shouldn't argue. I wouldn't have if he had remained silent but I want to fight her. I hate this.

"It's up to him." I said, shaking my head a bit. Link looked at me then, some worry evident in his eyes. I didn't know what to say or how to tell him that I couldn't argue to keep up the act that we were playing. He looked back at Mipha then at the ground for a few moments before making eye contact with her again, nodding once. Chills ran down my spine as I watched Link walk forward, leaving me behind. I had no clue what would happen up there and as I watched the trunk lift the two of them up out of my reach, my heart dropped into the pit of my stomach as if my whole body was disgusted by the fact that Link and her were now alone in a place that I couldn't see nor reach.
