As we agreed upon, I would meet Charles in his driver's room before the race.

I was there doodling in my notebook when Arthur ran into the room. His face was pale, and his eyes were remorseful, "Please, tell me it isn't true."

"What?" I asked, standing up and walking towards my brother. "Arthur, what's going on? You look like you've seen a ghost."

"Please tell me you didn't sleep with Max."

"Wh–" A nervous chuckle escaped my lips. Arthur knew damn well I had been saving my virginity. Until... yeah, until Max.

"Jas, please." His eyes were pleading.

But I couldn't give him the answer he wanted. So, I looked away. But my heart ached; Arthur had never looked so desperate.

And there must be a reason he asked.

"Arthur... I–, I can't..."

"I'm going to fucking kill him." Arthur turned around, but I quickly grabbed his shoulder.

"Arth, what's going on?"

"It was a bet. You were a bet."

"Sorry?"

"It was a bet. I don't know the details... but I heard him talk with Daniel and Carlos about you... about having made some kind of bet a few months ago," Arthur said remorseful; he could barely look me in the eye.

My mind raced, desperately seeking solace in the belief that there had been some misunderstanding. But deep down, I knew that his words carried the weight of undeniable truth.

The tears welled up in my eyes, blurring the world around me. I clutched my chest as if trying to hold together the fragments of my shattered heart. The room felt suffocating, its walls closing in on me, trapping me within a web of dishonesty and pain.

I stumbled backward, my hand slipping off Arthur's shoulder. It felt as if the ground beneath me had disappeared. I had trusted Max so blindly after weeks of trying to build my confidence around him.

I had told him about my insecurities, about being used by guys before, and yet, he let me believe it was real.

How could I have been so blind?
