You were sitting with your friends from your maze when they glanced at something over your shoulder. You turned your head to see a boy intensely observing his cornbread. You didn't actually know anything about him (yet). Just that he was the only boy in a maze full of girls.
"He seems a bit interesting,"Your friend trailed off. You did agree with that, but not in the passive aggressive way she meant it.
"There's nothing wrong with being curious,"You shrug, pulling your eyes away from him.
"Curious? No. He looks like he's on drugs,"Your friend debated, being serious.
"Maybe I should go buy some,"You joke. "That seems like a bad idea. He looks a bit creepy,"Your friend said. "No he doesn't,"You say quickly, defending the boy. "I mean you have to admit. He does look a little bit not all there,"Your other friend added. You don't know why, but now you had to actually talk to him.
"Where are you going?"Your friends yelled as you took your tray to join him at his table.
"I told you I was going to buy some drugs,"You yell back before making your way to him.
You slide across from him, and he looks at you confused. You hadn't exactly been quiet when making your last remark.
"Uh, I don't have any drugs,"He says, wondering what exactly you were doing there.
"I know. I just wanted to get to know you,"You shrug, taking in his features. He was pale with dark bags under his bright blue eyes. His brown hair was covered by his hoodie that you hadn't seen him take off even once.
"Okay,"He responds, pulling the hood down to actually look at you back. You both kind of sit there in silence for a while just seeing what the other looked like. After you realized that you started to laugh, and he did the same.
"I'm Aris,"He introduced. "I'm Y/N,"You tell him. "So, is the cornbread interesting?"You tease. He goes red at the thought of the pretty girl noticing that. You can't help but think that it's kind of cute.
"What a great answer,"You say, still smiling. "Yeah. I'm glad you think so,"He says, feeling relieved you didn't think he was weird. He didn't know why the thought of that made him nervous, but it did.
"I like you,"You respond. "I like you,"He says back, just as platonically as you did.
"That's good. We wouldn't have a very good friendship if you hated me,"You joked.
Friendship ended up being the wrong word to say a while later. All because he was curious about what they put in the cornbread.
Then again weren't you just as guilty of being curious about him? Without a doubt the answer is yes.
