You've been in the Glade for about six months. At first you kept to yourself. Everyone just thought you were quiet and reserved. For the most part you are.
There's always an exception though. One day you saw someone being a prick to Gally. While you hadn't really talked to him much you had respect for him. A few people may assume it's because he's your Keeper, but you don't care about that. A title and power mean nothing to you.
The reason you respect him is because he's stuck up for you. After a Greenie wouldn't stop harassing you Gally gave him a warning to cut it out. When he didn't Greenie 'broke' the don't go into the maze rule and got one night in the pit. He kept insisting Gally had shoved him in when nobody was watching, but everyone just thought he was lying. Gally's too much of a rule follower for that.
However, you happened to be the closest and the only one to see it. When you quietly thanked him he said he didn't know what you were talking about and left.
That's why when you saw the way another Glader was insulting him you didn't even give him a warning before 'accidentally' tripping him over his feet and making him fall to the ground and break his nose.
Unfortunately, yours wasn't as subtle. That's how you ended up in a Keeper's meeting.
"She deliberately harmed another Glade. Two nights in the pit with no food,"Alby tried to order. Nobody was expecting any objections since it was pretty basic.
"That's ridiculous. Accidents happen,"Gally spoke up, surprising everyone. Of all the people to defend a rule breaker nobody could have expected that person to be him.
"It wasn't an accident. I saw it happen,"Alby argued.
"No. I was right there. It was an accident so she gets no punishment,"Gally demanded.
"Come on. I know you saw it was on purpose. Could you maybe tell us why, and we could work something out?"Newt tried to bargain, doing his best to think of something that would satisfy everyone. However, the only thing that would seem right to Gally was you not being punished.
"It was an accident. It's that simple,"He repeated.
"Gally, you should be the first person to agree she did something wrong. Do you have some sort of soft spot for her?"Alby questioned.
"She did nothing wrong,"Gally insisted, purposely not answering.
"Of course he does. Do you not see the way he acts towards her?"Minho spoke up.
You could see Gally turn red and knew he was getting embarrassed. That's why you decide to step in before anything happens.
"He was too close to see I did it on purpose. I made it look like an accident,"You admit, not wanting Gally to take any more embarrassment.
"See? Any more objections from you?"Alby asks. Gally's just completely silent. Not because he still didn't want to defend you but because now he couldn't.
Besides, he already knew you did it on purpose. He doesn't need to say it for you to know it. Gally does have a soft spot, and he has it only for you.
