That night you had them all sleep in your house. You offered it to them for as long as they needed. They explained that they had to be on the road as soon as possible, and you just nodded in understanding. You knew you would miss them though. As great as your sister is she's obviously not your age. The people you work with are all older than you, and you're pretty sure some of them know what truly goes on there.
"Good luck out there guys. If by chance something happens my door is always open,"You promise. Everyone else says their thank yous and goodbyes before leaving. Then, it gets to Newt. You wave, but he doesn't move.
"I have an idea,"He states. You just patiently listen to whatever he's going to tell you. "Come with us,"He suggests.
"What?"You ask in disbelief, sure your ears were playing tricks on you.
"Come to the Safe Haven with us,"He repeats.
"I want to Newt. I really do, but I can't. I have Nina,"You remind him.
"She can come too. We can all get there together."
You're ready to decline his offer a bit firmer when Nina runs in from the other room. She sees the way the others are by the door and understands that they're leaving her.
"No. I don't want you to go,"She protests, running over and hugging Newt. Even though she could only clutch his leg he patted the little girls back before throwing you a pleading look.
"This isn't just your journey. Your friends-" "They want you to come too,"He promises. You don't know if he's just saying that to get you to agree so you look over. They're all doing something like nodding their heads or shooting you a thumbs up. They had gotten used to you and appreciated all you had done.
"I don't know. Nina-" "I want to go with them,"She speaks up, still desperately holding onto Newt. He gives you one more pleading look.
"Please Y/N. You've been on your own for so long. If you come with us you won't need to anymore. You'll have us,"He assures you.
"But I worked for WCKD. Would you really let someone like that travel with you?"
"No. We'd let the kind, pure hearted, clueless nurse go with us. So what do you say?"He repeats. You stand there as you think about it. "If not for you then for Nina. Give her a chance,"He begs.
The thought of both of you having a shot of living a true life, especially one that includes Newt, sounds like the greatest thing ever. You know you can't turn down this offer. You'd never get one like it again.
"Alright. We'll go,"You agree. He smiles ear to ear at the fact that you were truly going with them.
"Go pack up what you think is important Nina. We're getting out of here,"You explain. She excitedly runs off.
"Thank you Newt,"You whisper. No words could describe how grateful you truly are, but there's one perfect word to describe him.
Savior. Newt is undoubtedly the savior you had been waiting for. Those years were all worth it because they brought both of you together. Life was finally looking up, and everyone definitely deserved that. Even if they were a little clueless about their own life.
