Where is he??

You looked around the room, checking everywhere from top to bottom, but there was no sign of him. You went over to the desk and the lamp was still warm. He had just left.

Your mind became flooded with thoughts of what could have happened to him at once. Did the eremites take him? Was he kidnapped?? Is he in danger???

You ran out of the room, cursing yourself for being stupid enough to leave the target alone. What were you thinking? Matriarch Babel was going to be disappointed for sure.

"Excuse me, have you seen Kaveh??" you asked a student who was passing by. Anxiety filled your chest.

"Kaveh..?" the student replied, scratching the back of his head. "Oh yes, I think I saw him leaving with some other guys earlier..."

Your eyes widened in fear. The eremites had taken him. You left after quickly thanking the student and rushed out into the Sumeru streets. It was evening and the sun was quickly setting. The streets were bustling with citizens and vendors, chatter filled the air. You looked around frantically, surveying the crowd for the blonde man.

As you moved swiftly through the streets, you heard a faint shout. You froze on the spot, straining your ears to get a better listen...and it belonged no other to Kaveh. You turned at once and dashed for the building where the yell came from.

Preparing yourself to take on the eremites, you pulled out your dagger and kicked the door down.

"Kaveh!" you yelled, only to be met with an awkward silence as everyone in the tavern turned to stare at you. Your arm that was raising the dagger slowly dropped and you were speechless. Why was he in...a tavern?

"Is there something I can help you with, miss...?" the bartender asked, immediately rushing out.

"Yes I'm looking for a-," you stopped, finally catching sight of Kaveh at the back of the tavern with his head on the table. "Nevermind," you left the bartender and walked straight towards Kaveh's table.

You cleared your throat, trying your best to stay calm as you watched him slowly raise his head from the table to look at you.

"Oh? Y/N, come sit down," he slurred, vaguely pointing at the chair across him.

You stuck your dagger into the table, just a few inches from his face, successfully scaring him.

"Hey what did you do that for?!" he exclaimed, still very much out of it. He swayed in his seat a bit before letting out a small hiccup. This man was completely gone.

You took a deep breath, trying to control your anger as you glared at him.

"Are you out of your mind?" you asked, tightly clenching your teeth. "I told you not to leave the Akademiya!"

He looked confused and closed his eyes, taking a moment to process what you said. He was testing your patience and you were so tempted to just go back to the desert.

"I just stepped out for a small moment...it was just for five minutes I swear!!" he replied, placing his head in his hands.

"Then how in Teyvat did you end up drunk at a tavern? Do you realize how easy it would be for eremites to kidnap you?!"

"I was going back inside but then my friends saw me and told me to go to the Tavern with them! What kind of friend would I be to refuse that?" he whined, pouring himself another drink. "Besides, it's always good to go outside and stretch your legs. People aren't made to be cooped up inside all the time,"

"Yes, but your life is literally in danger," You grabbed the bottle from his hands and his eyes became full of disappointment. "You need to go home, now," you ordered, biting your lip in frustration as you watched Kaveh stumble twice after failing to stand up.
